You should receive a letter from your sailor soon. Mine left 6/28 from the DFW area and I didn't get the letter until Friday, July 9th. You will either get a form letter with your sailor's ship, division and graduation date. I just got a personal letter and had to read the ship and division on the envelope. I also started writing him letters the day before he left and every few days after that so I have 4 letters to send him this week.

You might also join Dep - Leaving in July group. They will talk about when they have gotten their letters and 'the box'. Once a few mom's have gotten the letter someone will start a 'group' with the name 'PIR 08/27/2010' or so. All of the member in our group have gotten letter with that date. You probably won't get a phone call until after your letter comes. I haven't got a phone call yet, but I always have my phone with me.

Good luck. We are all in this together with our sailors.

My Daughter left 6/28 for Boot and her Grad date is 8/27, You will get a letter from The Navy, he will probably write his Grad date in that letter. Letters are slow to come, but we're making sure we get one thing in the mail everyday. Cards, postcards, letters, anything to keep them smiling. My kid somehow snuck a phone call, said it was both good and bad, food is horrible, loves the PT, gets up @ 5:15 am, she's not a morning person, but I guess she is now! All and all, she sounds great! Good luck with yours!
My son left on 7/6 as well. I think 8/27 is his PIR...not positive yet.
Did you hear yet fromyour sailor? The form letter should have listed when your PIR is. There are some people with ship dates of 7/6 that are in these divisions. The divisions that graduate on 8/27 are 285-288 and 941. If your recruit is in any of these divisions then you are in the right place. There is a group for the next PIR which I think they said is the Thursday not the Friday because of the Labor Day holiday. Hope this helps. If you have any other questions you can 'friend' me and I can try to help.
