Yeah, this nation wide heat wave is record breaking from what I've seen on the news. Hope it starts to cool down.
I hear ya', Lauren....about our "men" acting like 14 yr olds. I got a similar story: Hubby and I went to see that stupid bear movie, "Ted"....OMIGOD, it was so absurd, lewd, crude, lots of foul language.....that it was surprisingly good. We haven't laughed this hard in a movie theater in a very long time. The theater was packed and we missed a lot of lines and jokes in the movie because people were still laughing from the previous things the bear was saying. It definitely is rated R, and I wouldn't take anyone under 17 (16?) in to see it, that's for sure!
Trisha, how was your San Diego trip? SD made the national news this morning. Our fireworks display went BIG BANG (for 15 seconds or so) and then fizzled. Four large barges were set out on different parts of our SD bay and beaches and were set to be synchronized to music naturally. But the fireworks went all off at the same time. The "show" was over in 15 seconds. Thank goodness no one was injured, however, it was very disappointing for spectators. Our beaches were also cold and overcast. The local news reported that beach shops sold more sweat shirts and sweatpants than t-shirts. Our days have been in the low 70s and mid 60s at night.
Not a very summery 4th of July.
Yay! for Charlie!!! He finally is out on his ship. I know how long he's waited for this.
Happy to hear Niko enjoying himself with Australian navy guys. Has to be much better than Hawaiian locals. If you aren't' one of them....they instantly don't like you. I guess they treat everyone whom isn't born or of hawaiian dissent as an "outsider" or "intruder".
Janna, hopefully they take things more slowly with their future plans. They are still so young.
there are some great picsof the nimitz in pearl harbor on the nimitz mom group page. Charlie called:) he was glad to get off the ship !
He was driving a spotting dolly, what they use to move the aircraft. He is moving over to security soon.
Trisha - what is he doing?
Casey is out on short underway for about a month. I check his Stennis page every day to see if there is a picture of him and got a nice surprise yesterday!
hey sylvia and everyone :) wow do i have a lot of reading to catch up. I am just in summer hibernation. Not enough exercise,,,,too many carbs and too much sleep.Yes La Jolla is so pretty:) I love it there,
Charlien went out on a 3 month deployment. So we are keeping in touch through emails. He says is so @#@# hot on the ship. Soon they will reach Hawaii:) He will like that. i sent him a big care package, hopefully it will get to him in less than a month,
It is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO gross here. Listen never move to AZ!
I have not posted for a long time. Keith has been in Saratoga Springs NY for the last six months in his last bit of training. He is doing well, but stressed out just like what you all have been reporting. 12 hour shifts, 7 days in a row, 2 days off. He is taking his tests, passing them all just fine, but the time commitment is oppressive. He was hit by a car while walking on the side of the road and fortunately, the only damage was a broken leg. This has set back his training somewhat. When it happened, he texted me at 4am - "call me. it's somewhat urgent." LOL. He's still healing - almost there. Good to hear from all of you.
