Casey is wrapping up his deployment, he will be home just in time for his brothers graduation! Super excited, he's grown so much this deployment, seems more settled, talking seriously about his future, going to college, saving money, etc. Of course, when he does come home, a friend from his base is meeting him in AZ, they are driving back to base and where do they need to drive through...........Las Vegas. SHould be interesting. Good thing he is putting a large chuck of what he made this deployment on a CD. Work has finally started to settle down, didn't think I was going to stick around for awhile. Change is always hard, but this was different. As the two hotels, myself and the other GM have been at our properties for years, so the expectations were that we knew all that there was to know about our property. True, to a point. Alot of the accounting issues, were taken offsite, and this new company does things very different. It's a great compnay, just needed to settle in I guess.
Sad that Preston is graduating. Happy for him, sad for me. He's my buddy. At least he is staying home this summer, playing baseball here rather than traveling and will head off to college in August. Then, we are emply nesters.........at least until next year when Casey gets out. I am going to assume that he would need to move back home for a bit.
Hope everyone is doing well!
Glad to read everyone's updates! I will be traveling to NY to help him move across country. He says he wants to drive, but in the middle of winter??
Hang in there Lauren. WHich ship is he on, was wondering if his was replacing Caseys? I send lots of care packages, but have learned to spread them out about every 2 weeks, as their storage is so limitedm but of course you know that. :-) Ive been lucky this deployment to have more commuication with Casey, but what I hate is when they go dark and you don't hear anything for awhile.
Jana - congrats on the wedding, Chris looked very, very happy.
JoAnn, hope you are recovering well! At least its not summer right now? Congrats to Charlie on the marriage, not sure if this has your blessing or not.
Janna - very excited for Chris, that its working out how it was meant to be. Post pictures when you can.
Cathy - Please tell me you are finally feeling better? Glad that Sam is safe and sound, that he is doing well.
Im trying hard to get in the holiday spirit, but its hard again this year, with Casey on deployment again, knowing that he is just sitting on that damn carrier. (yeah, Im a little irritated about deployments right now, I know, its what they signed up for but still). The company that I work for is selling off it's hotels, one by one. DOn't know what that means yet for me, hoping that the new buyer keeps me on. If not, guess I'll be dusting off the resume. Ive been here for 9 years, so that part would be tough but I guess everything happens for a reason. Trying to get ready for my empty nest in a few months, which I am NOT looking forward to. Ok, there is a part of me that is, no more picking underwear from random places (what is it with boys and underwear), knowing that if I use the toliet downstairs, Im safe (ya'll know what I mean), no more listening to crap rap, but there will be no more lazy saturday breakfasts, no more chick flicks (he is the one that will watch with me), no more random notes for me in the house from him. Crap, now Im tearing up. Well, in a year and half, Casey will be home, hopefull going to college, and he has asked if he can come home untl he gets back on his feet. YES!
Merry Christmas to all of you ladies, may Santa leave you all that you want and that this comming year brings you many blessings.
