I know that Casey would love one and I don't sew.

The suicide - I don't know how I could ever surive that.  You hear of it more and more, just the other day a 10 year, TEN, killed herself.  Social media can be a great tool or it can be a nightmare.  Ive seen, heard things kids say, and Ill admit, I can be the bitchy mom but I don't care.  Casey was bullied in grade school, it was horrible.  We moved, he started a new school and he got to start over.  Not everyone has that opportunity, nor should they need it.  Adults need to stand up more, correct the kids, tell someone, anyone, who will listen.

Ladies-I am very grateful for all of you.  I would like you to keep a family here in our area in your prayers.  Their son killed himself because of bullying in school.  He was 17.  His funeral in pulling into the cemetery now.  I can't imagine the pain this family is going through.  I am thankful that it is not me (sorry I know that sounds wrong but).

I am thankful to have my job and my family, food on teh table and a roof over my head.

I have a offer to make..I had posted before that I am making pillowcases with the Heads at Ease group here on N4M's.  If any of you would like a pillowcase for your son (I think we lost all the daughter people) let me know.  I can ship it to you for you to send to them or send it directly to them.  Right now I have a ton of different fabrics, everything from Joh Deere to sports to Power Rangers!!  Let me know if you would like one.  They are allowed to have them on board the ships and it adds a little brightness to their bunk.

Trish, you are absolutely right!  I'm counting my blessings too and am truly grateful for everything. Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving.  (There is likely to be drama in ours.....sometimes I can only take my mother in small doses) lol lol

Amen trish. I too need to count my blessings. I am sad that charlie isn't coming home for any holiday right now:(. But he is doing well on his own. We are blessed  as well. Wishing all of you a wonderful holiday. You are all awesome :)

Ladies..........theres crickets in here!  LOL

This year for Thanksgiving, I'm struggling a bit.  Casey is on deployment and its hard to get myself ready fo the holidays when I know he won't be home or able to be home for them.  I know its a choice he made, but still.

So, this year I am thankful for us making it through this year financially ok.  Marc was laid off for several months, but luckily he was able to fill that gap working for his dad.  When he came home, the company that he did work for made  him start over (which is BS in my opinion, but at least he has a job), so he lost all of his accrued vacation time and had to wait another 90+ days for insurance (which is even funnier, as he was never offered Cobra).  Im thankful that my 16 year has a good head on his shoulders, is working hard in school and baseball and overall, makes me feel very lucky to be his mom.  Im so very thankful that Casey has acclimated to life in Navy, and that I do get communication from him frequently.  Im grateful that the company I have worked for for the past 8 years lets me do my thing and recognizes the importance of family.  Overall, its been a good year.

And of course, grateful for all you ladies.  People are brought into our lives for a reason.

Sylvia - have Mike call me.  I started smoking when I was in college and quit cold turkey 5 years ago, when I had a health scare.  I can't begin to tell you how much I regretted it, people look at you like your a leper, you always smell like smoke, its not socially accetable, etc.  I did gain weight when I quit, BUT I don't regret the weight gain.  Working on that now.  I will say, it will affect insurance, both health and life, and could possibly affect employment choices later on down the road.  My husband quit with me, cold turkey too.  WHat helped him was sunflower seeds, for the oral fixation.  To be sucessful, he has to change habits.  Most smokers use cigarettes as a reward system, example, as soon as I finish this, smoke a cig, complete that, cig, etc.

My Step son smokes, and we found that Casey was chewing before he left to boot camp.  Devasted, but, a friend did say, better than crack.  (Sorry, had to find some humor).

Janna - congrats on the wedding!  Nice to see that you and the future DIL get along so well,  I can only hope that that will be the case for me when that time comes.

Joann - sorry about Charlie, does he have any leave time coming up soon?

Lauren - fingers, toes and eyes crossed that you get the best Christmas present, Niko home for CHristmas.  (although Im still jealous you went to Hawaii, but getting over it.  :-)

Son just called.  He'll be home for Christmas.  On a sad note, ladies:  My son is hooked on cigarettes.  I'm sick about it.  He started last December while in Pensacola. He promised he'd quit, but sadly, has not been able to.  No one in our families smokes. He's going to try something called, "Chantix?"  Spelling?  Not sure what that is. (a pill? a patch?)  I'm too disappointed and saddened by all of this.  I'm thrilled he's coming home, but am sad with the choices he is making in his life.  Honestly, I would have rather he'd gotten a tattoo than started smoking.   Sorry to be a "Debbie Downer"....but i'm very sad right now.

I'm actually embarrassed if my family ever finds out about his smoking.  :*(

Hi girls.  Just checking in.  Mike has put in his chit request to come home for Christmas.  Hopefully we'll know soon if he got it off.

Janna: Tell Chris that they are having a college basketball game on his ship.  They set up a professional basketball hoop court (with stands of course) on the USS Carl Vinson. (That's the ship Chris is on, right?)  Anyways, they set it up on the top flight deck (while they are in port, duh) and another court in lower hanger where the planes are stored (in case it rains this Friday)  My husband said that President Obama is rumored to be attending the college BBall game.  I had pic's of the ship that hubby texted me,.....but I think I deleted them.  Glad you're enjoying your time with Chris.

Congrats to Katrina.  lol!!! You guys remind me of us 25 yrs ago.  We met Aug 15th and were planning on a spring wedding....but kept moving it up.  Eventually got married November 28th.  Our 25th wedding Anniversary is just around the corner.
