Liberty is different than Leave.  Leave is similiar to requesting time off for vacation at work, they must submit a chit and have it approved.  Liberty basically means that they have "liberty" to…Continue

Charlie's Desertmom: There is no letter day, persay. But many recruits write each Sunday and if the mail service is dependable, many ladies find that they receive these letters on the same day each week.

joey's mom: You are wise to keep your plans for PIR in tact. I think you will get some nice time with your new sailor!

CathyJ- I'm thrilled to see that your son told his girlfriend not to come to graduation. Family does come first....always!
M's mom- thanks for posting all those dates! I'm impressed with Matt getting you those dates and details.
CathyJ- did your son say what specifically happened? Did an RDC get into trouble? I'm curious as heck because our division 285 has been struggling and I'm just wondering if any of it is related. My son did tell me in his 2nd letter that there was a "racial" comment/situation that he witnessed within div.285. Breaks my heart that this is still happening in our society.

Charlie's Desert Mom: We tell everyone to plan to have your new sailor for the whole weekend, just in case they are not GradNGo. Too many thought theirs were GradNGo and made plans accordingly, only to have to say goodbye to their sailor when he/she still had time left. Remember, even if GradNGo, you can still go to the airport on Sat. and wait with them for their flights. Make sure you have ID to get the military gate passes.

Just got home....there was a letter waiting...reading it now. RCPO stands for Recruit Chief Petty Officer. Yes 941 BS21 is on Monday the 23rd. Eryn sent me a schedule I will post it for 941 after I get the groceries in...so they don't cook in the car :-) Also, Grad and Go could mean just going over the rail road tracks to the main side base. Eryn's corpsmen school is located there.
According to her all the corpsmen have to check in after graduation and before they go on liberty.

Watch standing is no longer than a 4 hour stretch...most of the time...but it depends...I have had an OOD watch for 24 hours...but some of that time was sleeping...but how can one sleep in empty hanger spaces...too scary. But I think that they were just messing with him. Unfortunately my daughter did not get to be part of DIV 941 photograph because she was on watch. Well my groceries are MELTING...be back

hey ladies!! shannong that picture is sooo cute!! is that your dog? got my questionaire back from jesse, and he said he said it he loved filling it out!! he said that he works at the church on fri and sun cuz it gets him away from the RDCs lol. he gets to talk to people that only have a week or so left till PIR or already have graduated so he is prepared for everything. He told me about the story where someone crapped on the floor of the bathroom and after that their chief said they have to pee sitting down now and can only use 7 toilets/urinals out of 30! he is a grad 'n go. his new job is logistics specialist and school is in mississippi for 2 months. said they got an academic flag, probably more now since it was dated aug 1st. and he said we might be able to see him before graduation since battlestations is on the 24th. has anyone heard anything about that??!!??!!

m'smom - yay on the letter! I wonder if all our divions will be doing battle station on the same day, since there are only 5 division? From what I udnersatnd, division 941 is also on that day. MOms of 941 - I could be wrong, don't quote me, still waiting on final word.
