Liberty is different than Leave.  Leave is similiar to requesting time off for vacation at work, they must submit a chit and have it approved.  Liberty basically means that they have "liberty" to…Continue

Good Morning...seems you guys are very busy at night time!!! Im in FL, so you Pacific Timers are partying while Im sleeping!!! Welcome Abbi's Mom, my daughter is in Ship 6 Div 941...As far as gifts...I bought my daughter this ridiculous Skull ring with Swavorski crystals..she can wear it in the hotel, but I'll take it home with me and then send it to her when she gets to P'cola! Im bringing her laptop too so she can catch up with her friends, but I'll probably take that back to! Im bringing her her favorite sweats and tank tops for the room...

Good Morning ladies!! It so great to get into work and check my N4M first thing and catch up..did all of you keep your phones tied to you?? I have since shannon and txnavymom posted they got a call Fri...you just never know and I would be devastated if I missed his call..

ok gifts-- I am getting my son a navy money clip..with the cost of the trip I dont have much money but my son had already told me seeing all of us would be gift enough (isnt he the best?!) I am having his money clip engraved with the seabee slogan "we build, we fight" and having his PIR date put on it...

mail--Ive written Zac and told him my last letter wrote to him would be the 15th. I figure it should get to him by that weekend and then the next week is PIR week and that should be battlestations so they wont be getting mail then anyway. I am going to include a card inside that letter for him sealed with DO NOT OPEN til after battlestations for him to get one last 'Im proud of you' before I see him.

And txnavymomwife-- you are soooo right..too many times as mothers and wives we get caught up on taking care of everyone else and neglect ourselves..my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer 16 years ago and it was found with a routine mammogram..fortunately because they caught it early they were able to remove and treat it and she has been cancer free ever since..But what if she had put it off another month, could they have...no one to say for sure but our family needs us so we have to take care of ourselves. Thank you m'smom for reminding us that!

Good Morning Gals. Thank you for all the input on something as important as early detection. m'smom I am so glad they caught yours early. Ladies again--we love our families-getting a screening mammo is the greatest way we can show how much we love them but most importantly OURSELVES!

Nikosmom-Thank you for your insight and also your service as a Hospice Nurse. There is a special place in heaven for you angels of mercy. I always think of the hospice nurse that took care of my mother-in-law in her last days--truly amazing. Also, thanks for the heads up on the Greek Festival. I think that this is something that we will go to on Saturday.

Charlies's Desertmom-yep I think we all wish that we were on the same time zone. Sometimes when I cannot sleep...where do I go? Here of course :-) It is also a great way for me to wake up in the morning...I have to see what's been happening with everyone before my morning run.

JessicaB-I definitely agree with you the precious gift of time and following their desires is the best gifts of all. Jopers-a laptop is a great idea. I am bringing Eryn's up to GL. She will be able to have it once she checks into Corpsman "A" school which she told me will happen before she is able to go on liberty after Friday's graduation.

KristinaR-girl I am glad that you are getting your wisdom teeth taken care of. Did you find a dentist that takes the Active Duty insurance? I will be thinking of you and praying for you....and hoping for your speedy recovery.

Hi Abbi's mom. Welcome. My daughter Eryn is in the same division and your daughter.

Lastly, EVERYONE have a blessed and joyous day!

KJ'sMom: I would not count on mail being forwarded from the Recruit base to A School. I don't believe it is. One mom told me that she had written her daughter a letter the last week of boot camp and she never got it there or at A School. It's best to cut off the letter writing the week before PIR. You can still write letters if you want, and then if you meet your sailor at the airport when they leave for A School, hand them the letters to read on the plane or at A School.

boxermom: They usually can have these things once they are moved onto the GL base, not on the Recruit base. Your friend should take them with him to GL. But his new sailor will have to doublecheck on the GL base to make sure he is allowed to have them. Usually they are, but special ops/seals may be different.
