Good morning everyone. We had the most glorious rainstorm last night! Boy and the SPECTACULAR double and 180 degree rainbow that followed--you could see it from its beginning to it end(I think that when I get a chance here soon I going to post it.. that beautiful rainbos has alot of meaning!)

Cathy, I think that you guys got the rain before us...I was thinking about you and the GF issue and was saying my prayers for you in hoping that the situation would resolve itself. As much as I hate to say this...it sounds like this little girl may have a "romanticized" image of dating a sailor--its the "cracker jack" syndrome or in the case of an officer the "Officer and Gentleman" effect ...well as a navy wife I could tell her, it isn't always a bed of roses! Well just stick to your guns, and if she happens to be part of the baggage on this trip, make sure she understands that you all are seeing YOUR SON as a part of a FAMILY. I assume that there is no ring or promise of a future yet, but even if there was a commitment of some sort, she has to understand that this is a package deal. As difficult as it was sometimes I ALWAYS included my husband's family in the important naval events of our lives--as he made rank, I have many a photograph of me pinning on one device and my mother-in-law the other...my husband was her son...the poor lady died a few years back, but I would not have traded those memories for the world. Also make GF know that she will have to pay her own way room and travel expenses...maybe she's thinking that this is an "all expense" paid trip...and if she has to pay for herself that would deter her...well that's all I have to say on the matter.

Eryn called right as I was getting ready to work....we have a wood fired pizza restaurant on our ranch, and we serve Thurs, Fri, Sat evenings, and the rain storm blew up just right before our guests arrived(its by reservation only...so we know exactly whose coming...great job) I did not have much of a chance to disseminate her phone call.

She said pink eye and the flu was going around the compartment spaces...so far she has not been sick...and I keep praying that she stays healthy. Div 941 so far has earned every flag that a division could earn...this is a very exceptional undertaking. She passed her PFA, but was worried about the second academic test...the naval history she felt confident about, but the seamanship she worried about. It is funny that even though one may not every be involved in the daily handling of a boat or ship...everyone has to learn what a bit, padeye, cleat, and other wonderful items of seamanship there are to learn. She is excited in the fact that they will be performing beginning next week. She is carrying the Louisiana flag...she is a native Texan...us Texans are funny about that...so I sure wish she was carrying the Texas flag...oh well! :-)

Got to do my run...PROUD TO BE A NAVY MOM!!!!!

Division 41 moms, I have been told by Cameron that our division will be marching and performing at the PIR of 8/13/10. I asked their group if any of them will video it for us and post it so we can see our recruits perform and march. Well geus what, one mom has said she will, she said she would have done anything to see her recruit during his boot camp and if this was the only way then she is happy to help us. OMG we may see our recruits next week.

Cameron also said that what ever cold or chest infection he had has been going round in his compartment, many have been sick.

Cameron called, he was happy and sounded much better in himself. He said that he had been notified on Tuesday about the mix up with his bank account and that he would be paid properly on the 15th and get all the money that has gone missing on the 1st of September. So that was one less worry. Now he did tell me he has been coughing up green and said yesterday there was blood in it but not today. Of course now I have a new thing to worry about. He said he was going to medical. I just hope he can stick it out with his Div, he likes his Division mates and feel they are getting stronger and better together. I think It is my son that Eryn knows because I asked him before about her on the phone and he said he thought he knew her so now with the Navy 4 Moms connection I am sure he has made sure he knows her.
Cameron also told me about the flags they got 3 this week he was so pummped up that they passed hell week. They got an inspection Zone flag, the atheletic flag and the drill flag which means they can drill and march without their RDC's now. I just said Oh joy lol. He has bought me and his girlfriend a division T shirt which is said is cool as the division designed it themselves. He did say that they failed one test as a divison getting a 2.83 and needed a 4.0 so that has to be redone. Cameron called his gf before he called me this time, but I am OK with it because he still called me, last time he called only me.
So GF issues, Cameron has been with his for nearly 2 years. I thought they would grow apart through his senior year and him joining up wopuld tear them apart but they have stuck it out. Now I don't think that they will last forever but I support him and her, let the road take them where it goes. She coming with us toPIR. that in it's self has been a whole mess that Cathy J has helped me sort out. When that first letter arrived with the names of the people on the list he had put Jordan on and left off his step mother. His father was furious and hurt feeling and anger came flooding out, Cathy came forwrd with a solution for us and I sure appreciate it. Again we will have to go with the flow on this one but if the GF is not on a list it still looks like she would get in because with only 5 divisions graduating there should be plenty of room. Unless of course one of you are taking 100 people. My issue is I have to share my grads time with a Father and Step mom. I want him just to for Jordan and myself. oh and my husband.

Trishar, I thought last week was when they had reclassifications? Did they give your son a choice to reclassify? Our son told us that they only reclassify you if you aren't able to fulfill your current rate due to a health reason or something? Or perhaps if they are in serious need in a certain rate? My son wanted to be a GSM (Gas Turbine Systems Mechanical) but he was offered AC instead at MEPS when it came down to signing. It was the ONLY rate they offered him after many months of waiting. They said "It's a good rate...take it". I feel he took it because then he would have had to play the waiting game again.

Trishar-My son is also going to Pensacola for AC rate. (Air Traffic Controller) Too bad they are in different divisions though. Ship04/Div 285 for us. But hey...we can still keep in touch through their AC school. By then Mike will know Casey by then. Why was Casey switching from an AC rate?

He did mention that they got three flags this week, one for physical, inspection and a test. They scored 4.8 at Marinespike (?) and said that Cameron got a Bravo .... Sorry, it was hard to hear at that point, a girl next to him was upset, her phone card wasnt working, so he gave her his. He did say that on the phone cards, it takes up 35 minutes just to place a call. Today is 4:5 for division 941, and Monday will be 5:1. They will perfom as next weeks PIR. He said alot of people are sick, but he is feeling better. His bunk mate was sent home with pnuemonia. They just finished hell week and get to write on Tuesday, THursday and Sundays, but he did say, MOM, i will write to you, share with the family, i try to catch a few winks during down time. Hard to sleep with 79 guys, alot of snoring.

Casey sounded good, very tired, but good. Waiting for reclassifiaction. Says not knowing is he is going to buds or Pensacola is the hardest. I actually hope he goes to Pensacola for Air Traffic Control (what his contract was for), the drop out rate is very, very high for buds and am worried what happens if he doesn't make it.
