Got a letter from Casey today and he started it off by saying, sorry this letter is so messy, I'm exhausted.

Mom,
I can't believe it but I am already on 3-4 day. Boot camp is starting to fly by. Its not even 2 months, its really just 1 long day with a few naps in between. We have a weapons turnover inspection and I can load, cock the slide and catch a round in my hand with my eyes close when I'm using a 9mm berreta. I'm serious, I actually can. They call week 4 hell week becuase we get so little sleep but I'm sure its nothing compared to buds. It still hasnt sunk in that I'm acutally getting to do this. For RDC's, we have 2 chiefs and a petty officer, which is unusual. Friday of this week we had a marlinespike, which was really fun. I was a phone talker and so was Cameron, we we got to chat quite a bit. Anyways, I get to start performing on 5-5 day, which isn't this friday but the next one. The first performance will be 4 hours long, so I'm not super excited. I don't know if I will even get to, because I am a div-MO. I think I told you last week thought. Im not carrying the michigan flag anymore, its Arkansas. Im still in the very middle. I have to go now and your the only one getting a letter this week, tell everyone I love them. Love, Casey

:-) ANd guess what, I didnt cry once reading the letter, but found myself breathing, for probably the first time with a letter, he sounds really good.

Question - what is a Division MO?

I just called my husband and I have a letter! Ok, I feel better.

I did take Casey to the recruitors, the Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force. I wanted to be make sure he was very aware of the differences and his options. He had said all along he wanted Navy, and it turned out, one of the recruitors knows his uncle. Casey was adament that once he turned 18, that he did it on his own, he wanted the reponsibility for his actions and that this had to be his decision. I was proud. He attended PST trainings twice a week with a Seal motivator and had to go to the MEPS station at least 5 times. I was with him his last day, saw his swearing in ceremony and watched him get on the bus to the airport. This was his decision, and I love his bravery and determination to do what he wants.

I AM PROUD TO BE A NAVY MOM!

Treat yourself to a "mani and a pedi" I never used to treat myself to those types of "frivolous" things...but my daughter loved them. So I thought what the heck. Believe me...you need pampering...it works wonders! ;-) And it saves your nails!

I was just thinking of our 941 Div, Next fri they get to go to their "practice" PIR! Thats pretty cool...good incentive to pass all PTA's, Tests, Inspections and BS21! Are we going to have any fingernails left by the 27th!!!! Mine are already suffering!!!

Whew it is hot! When Eryn writes on Sundays, are getting them by Wednesday or Thursday of that week. I write her Mondays, Wednesdays, and send a final letter for the week on Friday...after we receive the Thursday letter. But I agree with all of you, I will probably be sending my last letter to boot camp on August 18th give or take. Last week she told me that she thought div 941 would be going through BS21 on Monday 8/23. Next week 8/13 this division will begin their graduation performances through to their graduation 8/27. Wow time is flying, Yes the last two weeks of bc will be very very busy.

I will let our son know for sure that Sun. Aug.15th will be our last letter to him. I've been dating his letters not only on the inside but outside of his envelopes as well. He will understand this. After all, he's the one who told us that our letters are taking about 10 days or more to get to him) Plus, ladies....Shannong is totally on the money with what she said down below...and I quote: "I also think that their last two weeks will be extremely busy and mail might be the last thing on their minds....they may be better focused on Battle Stations-21!!!!" end quote.
My boy has said that he should be studying for a test instead of writing but that he "felt guilty" not writing us. So......there you go.
August 15th is last day for me. But he'll know it waaaay in advance.

JesssicaB-SailorMom- Toward the end of your son's boot camp, after your son PIR'ed, did any of your letters (toward the end) not get to him? Did they get forwarded to his A-school or did Great Lakes just "return them to sender"?
