Liberty is different than Leave.  Leave is similiar to requesting time off for vacation at work, they must submit a chit and have it approved.  Liberty basically means that they have "liberty" to…Continue

hey ladies..well my Zac had been talking about the navy seriously for two years so at the beginning of his senior year I said well if you're going to do this then Im doing it with you, lets get the recruiter out here and lets do it right.. so we had the recruiter come out to the house and answer my page of questions and go over the pros and cons and all the jobs and I signed with Zac for him to enter the delayed entry program.. I know this is the right path for Zac cause he does well with routine too and he is not only getting to do something he'll enjoy..hes getting a trade he can carry on into later if he does come out and doesnt make it a career and gets the GI bill to further his education.. Im very proud!!!!

when to stop sending??- Im thinking the last day to send anything would be probably the 18th dont all of you??? by the date on Zacs letters it takes him about a week to get mine so thinking he be able get that one by the 26th and that be it..what about the rest of ya'll??

CaliMom, Great thinking on the letters, Ive asked my SR to tell me how many days from the post mark in FL to GL just so I have an idea, but no luck...I also think that their last two weeks will be extremely busy and mail might be the last thing on their minds....they may/better be focused on BS21!!!!

I am still going to write him up to the end and then just give him his bundle of letters at PIR. That will be my "present" to him. (other than the cost of airfare, car rental, hotels, etc....... but a price I am happily paying)

M'smom - I hope each day is getting better for you regarding Gracie. I have had to put down one pet and will need to do it again soon. My Happy is 17 years old and in bad shape, but my husband isn't ready to let go just yet.

I am growing in regards to taking care of my sons problems. His computer he left isn't working, and I thought about getting it fixed, but after reading your posts, nope, hes a big boy now, with a paycheck and he can do it on his own. Besides, Im not the one who broke it. Hows THAT for growth moms? Lol, have a great day everyone and keeping my fingers, toes and eyes crossed that I get a letter today.

My daughter just told me we can all write to her after we can't write to our recruits! She would love to get something in her mail besides bills!!

I hadn't thought about the fact that we can't write up to the week of PIR. What happens to stuff we mail that doesn't get there before they leave? Does it come back to us or get forwarded? I may start writing my letters here!! LOL
Txnavymom-Thanks for asking. I still walk in the door and go to speak to her everytime I come home. My hubby actually admited he misses her. I know that my son will know as soon as he sees me that something is wrong. He has always been that way. It will get better, I have faith in that. In the mean time my neighbors think I'm nuts because I either talk to myself or sing everytime I walk in my front door!!! One of these days the men with the padded truck will come and take me away haha, hehe, hoho!!

Received a letter from my son. As of this past Sunday he was still sick with what the Doctors are telling him is a "cold". He believes it is a sinus infection. (ear feels like it has water in it and is annoying). The meds he was given aren't making him well. He was to go back this past Tuesday for a follow up with the doctor. I sure hope he is feeling better now. Worry!
He said the RDC's are now giving them 30 minutes on Tuesday and Thursday to write.
He hates insepctions. ;-)
I know he is feeling poorly cause he would have written more. Geesh, I do miss him.

Lol californiamom..your son sounds like mine. He did one year of college reluctanly. We really wanted him to get an education, but he just wasn't interested. he chose the navy all by himself. So i am glad he found something.

p.s. It seems that my letters (and I'm writing him daily) are taking about 10 days to get to him. So I will be letting him know that my last letters are coming soon. If you look on a calendar, the last letter (if it takes 10 days for it to get there before they PIR) that we can send and assume they will actually get it is Sunday, Aug.15th.
Just food for thought.
I know, I know....several of you will chime in that you will send a letter everyday until the 25th probably!
Die-hards, gotta love them! (smiley face)
