Liberty is different than Leave.  Leave is similiar to requesting time off for vacation at work, they must submit a chit and have it approved.  Liberty basically means that they have "liberty" to…Continue

Letters from James were all good. No different info then what we discussed during his call home. Miss him so much! He is upbeat and counting down the days right along with all of us ;-) Have a great day Ladies!

Having experienced all three-hurricanes(Hugo-1989), earthquakes(San Diego) and good old Texas Twisters--I think I would take the tornadoes anytime. With a hurricane one has to wait a very lonnng time to see where the darn thing is going to make land fall, earthquakes-can't say I like having my bed shaking in the middle of the night, or wondering when THE BIG one is going to take California to the ocean. But with a tornado-I love modern technology--have weather warning on the cell phone, weather radio/radar in the house, and a basement down below(yes some of us have basements in Texas) We really can get some wild storms here. Also last year we had to deal with the wild fires and of course always the heat here too!

shannong- Thanks for the Hurricane info. I take comfort that with Hurricanes there are at least warnings, plus CNN & entire media is really on it too.

Sorry, my son did mention the tornado, with the blip of "had a tornado, but, when you get here and see how massive the buidlings are, you are going to laugh." Now, we are from AZ, where the only natural disaster that we deal with is heat.

CaliMom...Hurricane season in Fl is June 1st thru Nov 30...its a LONG season, but things get active more in Aug-Sept. The "trend" has been most storms in the last few years have been in the northern area of FL, Alabama and Louisiana, but every year it changes. Unless its a CAT 3, I wouldnt worry, the Cat 1-2 are usually rain makers...We went thru Hurriane Charlie (CAT 5) a few years back...we survived, I'd choose Hurricanes over Earthquakes any day!!!! Hope that helps!

July 24th. Dear Mom & Dad, We had a tornado warning 2 days ago and we had to go in the shower around 3am. It was super windy that day.
Okay ladies, being from San Diego, we are NOT used to this stuff. A few small earthquakes....yes, but not tornados. I guess later in January, he'll be dealing with hurricane warnings in Pensacola. When is hurricane season anyway?

Got a letter yesterday, it was very short. Said no new news since the call on Friday. Asked for more envelopes. Was hoping for more information, but, guess I will wait for next week.

My sister, the Marine Mom, mentioned to me last night that cafepress.com has a sale going on on their t-shirts and other stuff. I checked and it is only on until tomorrow. Thought I would share. She said their stuff is pretty good.
