Liberty is different than Leave.  Leave is similiar to requesting time off for vacation at work, they must submit a chit and have it approved.  Liberty basically means that they have "liberty" to…Continue

CaliMom..I sent my Daughter the shampoo and stuff, she also made a quick call yesterday and said I could send her hair straightener and mascara for pics next week, so I assume if the SR's are doing well, their RDC's are pretty cool about things!

KJ's Mom: My son when he went through bc said they were made to pee sitting down too. His group was told it was because they were "missing their aim"andso it was to keep it clean! Funny...I have two boys and tried forever to get them to sit down to go so I didn't have to keep cleaning toilets! The Navy got it done! HA!

Desertmom: Have you received your form letter yet? You should have by now if your recruit went in on 7/6. That letter will contain your recruit's PIR date.

Got my phone call around 3 p.m. CTL time. Ohhhh. . . it was great hearing his voice. His first words were, "How's everything going?" Everything was going very good. Passed all tests so far and his weight went from 240 to 217 to very well below 200. Of course, as a mom I expressed my worry, but he said was doing great and really liking it. Seemed relaxed in talking with me. We spoke for over 30 min. I asked him of other mates and he also gave me last names, that they only go by last names (he told me a few, but can't say here). I also told him we couldn't use on website. He said he had sore throat and getting over cold (evidently spread?). And had pink eye, but over now. Also did say they got IT for someone(s) not flushing and now have to sit like a female. He was relaxed and using same voice as always. I am so very proud of our SRs!

Diannep- lol. That's very true about the cat fights! Haha.

California Mom: If women ruled the world, no wars but lots of cat fights! Maybe the too many cooks in the kitchen theory! Let's face it...we need women AND men in the world....but it would be nice if the men recognized their limitations so that we could run things! :-) The networking ability of women still amazes me...we are pretty good at that!
Loved the RDC goodies story. My son had a similar one when he was there...sent a care pkg at Christmas from someone he didn't even know...full of Christmas goodies. He had to open it for them...the RDC's sure enjoyed them!

Some things of interest that my son shared with me on the phone. I had read somewhere on N4M's that a sailor girl asked her mom to mail her some shampoo, toothpaste and a razor....and that her RDCs were cool with that. So I asked my son about that, if I could send a small package, or rather a Manila type medium envelope with stuff and he told me that someone received a pkg like that with candy and goodies and that the RDCs opened it and ate it in front of everyone. So I guess I have to wait to send goodies until he's in "A" (Academic) School. Asked about the Reclassification that is supposed to be occurring this week. He said that one RDC told him that you can only switch if you are injured or some kind of illness prevents you from doing your current rate. Then they would find something else for you. But there is the possibility that they are short in some area and will try and convince people to switch over. He seemed very interested in our N4M's website and wanted to know more. Sometimes I had more information than HE did, due to our wonderful community of communicators. Aren't women the best at communication? If women ruled the world, I wonder if there'd be any wars?
