Liberty is different than Leave.  Leave is similiar to requesting time off for vacation at work, they must submit a chit and have it approved.  Liberty basically means that they have "liberty" to…Continue

Thanks everybody!! Think I put the ship name with his division and number on same line first time but seperated it the next time..my husband said as long as it had his number and division in there it get to him..Just didnt want him not to recieve his mail because of me you know.

Yes your hubby is correct. The most important items are the Ship number and the Division. The letters will get there with just this minimum info. However, I also put the Ship's Name-daughter is on the USS Constitution-and as a former American History/Government teacher and arm chair constitutionalist--I find that is so cool. :-)

Hey question for the group! My sons letter to me arrived before my form letter..His return address on his letter had Ship 04,Division 285, USS Arleigh Burke..but then his form letter had ship and division but Recruit Training Command...did any of ya'lls have the ship name and which should I use you think??? My husband says either one will probably get to him but I didnt know

nikosmom: One of the moms on our site actually got that info from her daughter and as creator of that group, I posted it. So, if a mom on here can get the same info, you can ask Amber (your site creator) to post it. Only she can do that. So, Moms, be asking your recruits their schedules if you speak with them and then share on here! Make sure to include the division number you are posting for.

Good, SOBE. Mine went out yesterday. Thanks to T.J,'s mom for passing on the info. Maybe her son can tell her how the recruit felt about receiving the letters.

Diannep - that letter to the recruit you and I chatted about the other day is going in the mail tomorrow! I had a strange week (husband had emergency surgery on Thursday), but all is well now. Love the power of prayer! Also - I may have to lay low on N4M for a few days, I have a huge presentation and need to study for it. N4M is addicting and I can't mess with my job!

YES and YES!
CathyJ - you got it, send a letter (or two) now in the same envelope to your recruit and "if" there is someone who isn't getting mail (or not much), have them hand it to them!

m'smom: Adopting a sailor at PIR is awesome - I asked my son to invite those whose family couldn't come (or wouldn't come), but they knew he was a G&G, so they declined. Turns out, a lot of them were G&G's and they hung out with my husband and I at the airport on Saturday! That gave my son some time to walk around the terminal with his GF - which is what he wanted to do anyway! I still talk (text) with one of the guys - he is at Corry Station with my son, and he is a very funny guy! It will touch your heart and make a difference in that Sailors PIR memory!!!!!!

I also read about a family that took a recruit, with no one at PIR, out to dinner with their family. I guess we could ask if our son/daughter know of anyone who will not have family at PIR.
Comment by diannep on July 18, 2010 at 6:39pm
Add me to the list to write recruits letters if not getting mail! Maybe just post on here that you know of one, and we can private message for the name. It does feel good to do that...and I hope the recruits are helped too! They need all the help them can get during bc and know how much we appreciate them!
