Ladies: This graduation is now listed on the Recruit Command Center. It is another small one...only 5 divisions like 8/20 is. The good news about that is that "extra" guests for the PIR have a much better chance of getting in.

m'smomship: Although the Ramada sponsors the Meet N Greet (and provides the food), it is up to the moms to do everything else as far as "special" nametags (like ones with N4M profile pictures on them, screen name, and then REAL name), division ribbons, sashes, etc. where each division is assigned a color, etc. It is totally up to the moms on here to do what they want...or nothing at all! If you look on the PIR 8/13/2010 group, you will see alot of posts amongst the moms on what they want to do. And then Janelle started a discussion on that site about it. Whoever coordinates it for this group will need to add a Meet N Greet post over on the right of this page so that people can RSVP. You will need to let the Ramada know a couple of days before how many plan to come. There will always be extras...because people will come who are not part of this group. But at least you can let them know how many N4M family members plan to be there. If you want ideas, "friend" Janelle in the 8/13 group and/or keke's mom in the 8/6 group. Both are working on their Meet N Greets. Good luck!

Made my reservation at the Lodge. Can't find the reference right now, but did someone say something about a Meet and Greet? Do we need to plan this or help with it or anything? I am a planner. I like to know what is happening and when. This whole year of DEP has been tough for me, because my son had put his name on the list to get called if something opened up sooner. Only had 4-5 calls asking 'can you go next week?'. Then no follow-up, at least that he told me about. I guess that is why it seemed a relief to finally have him go. Seems an odd sentiment for the occasion.
Big thanks to all you 'Moms in the know', who are answering all our questions

nikosmom: All of the guest names on the form letter will stay the same. The only thing that changes is the PASSWORD and his PIR Date. I had this happen to me also since my son was held back a week. I had to contact the Public Affairs Office (PAO--contact info is in your form letter)and ask for the new PASSWORD to print my gate pass. Remember, you can't print this pass until 11 days before PIR anyway. But I expected to receive an "updated" form letter and I never did, so that is what I suggest you do.

Hi, Ladies. I have been reading all of the posts about the bc address confusion. The address that your recruit writes inside the form letter that you will receive is the CORRECT address. Do not go by a recruiter's address or the return address on a personal letter from your recruit. For those of you who have already written letters mailed to the recruiter's address, don't worry. He/she will eventually get them...it will just take longer if the address is incorrect. The mail is held from the recruits for the first 2 weeks anyway. So my suggestion is: Write your letters, hold them, and address them when the form letter comes. (usually within a week after they leave) Then your recruit will get many at one time, which they love!

As Angie said, they do have stationery (Navy), envelopes, etc there. My son said they even passed out stamps in his division, so he threw away the 2 self-addressed stamped envelopes I sent him in my first letter (lovely....). Don't worry...they will write to you. Many moms panic and send all of these supplies thinking their recruit will not write if they don't send them. If you don't get letters or phone calls after about the first 4 weeks, better check with the gf....in a female recruit's case, the bf....they may be hearing from your recruit regularly!
Happens alot I hear! :-)

My son graduated in Feb from bc and A school in April, and is now stationed. If I can answer any questions here, I would be happy to. Just post them! Good luck to all of your recruits!

m'smom yes there is someone with greater love and power watching over all of this. It is most important to keep the routines in our lives during this time and fill the days. Surround yourself with family and friends will make the time pass quickly. Well I am off to the post office.
