Ugh...humidity.  I'd post a pic of my frizzy-hair on a humid day....but I'm afraid you'd all faint like those infamous PIR sailors on grad day!

And you're absolutely right about how men and women handle empty nest syndrome so differently. I boo-hoo-hooed the first year, but now I'm on the same page as my husband. It's seriously done wonders for our marriage.  ;)

So hot, I swear there is no point in getting ready each day.  I'm sweating in places I either didn't know I had or had forgot about.  This time of year I HATE Phoenix, woke up 5:30 and it was already 98 degress outside.  Supposed to be 114, AND its humid.  My hair looks like a frizzy rats nest, Im tired of seeing moob sweat......UGH, just hate the heat when its this bad.  Of course, we are reovating at the hotel right now and everyday, the superintendant on the job wants me to go outside to see whatever new problem popped up today.  Can't we talk INSIDE, in the AC?  I know I live here, doesn't mean I handle the heat well.

School started Monday.  Its my youngest last year of high school.  :-(  Excited FOR him, but he's my baby and with how hard it was with Casey leaving, worried about what lies ahead.  Of course hubby is planning all sorts of activities for when he's out of the house.  I think men and women handle the empty next thing very differently.  ANniversary is coming up and of course, he wants to go to Vegas.  Me, I would prefer a quiet B&B somewhere.  Stay cool ladies!

I tell anyone who is thinking to talk to someone who has been through it and for hte moms, get on the moms page, read, read some more.  You can't stop what they want to do, but you can be prepared. ITs like childbirth, you can say its going to hurt like h* ** but that hasn't stopped anyone yet!

This month, 2 years ago, we were all a nervous wreck.  I don't know about all of you, but I LIVED on this site.  PIR was amazing and he's grown up, alot.  Would I want this for my other son, no, but for some reason, even with the ups and downs of what Casey has gone through, I feel that this was meant to be.  He needed this, for whatever he will get out of it and his and my frustrations, I feel without it, for him, he would still be floating out there.  So many youth today seems lost, no real plans, just get by.  Casey needed that additional time to mature.  Heck, the kid was two weeks late and I had to be induced, maybe he needed a little more "cooking" time when it comes to maturing.

Hugs to all of my fabulous Navy moms!  I still have my ribbon that Cathy made for us for the meet and greet, saw it the other day and thought, how blessed I am to know such awesome, strong, smart, amazing women.

Don't you just wish you could REALLY tell that Mom the reality of it all?  Kind of sucks, but we tend to sugar coat things.  I guess if we really told them the "truth"....it would be like us interfering with time travel or something like that. Had I known then what I know now... I would have loved for me to come back from the future and tell us, "It's all a total waste of time." "Tell Jr. to somehow find a way to get out NOW before going to bootcamp."  Truth be told....we just can't do that to anyone else's "dream"....can we.

Casey was pre-buds.  Their boot camp experience, for the most part, seems to be the same, seems that they may get more conditioning time?  Right after boot camp, they will stay in Great Lakes, move over to the other side and the nice thing is, at least it was when Casey was in, he had liberty the whole weekend.  One of the hardest things for alot of them is to keep healthy.  Casey ended up with Mercers, which put him down for a bit, but that doesn't matter, there are certain qualifications that have to be met and miss any, you're out.  Not to sound negative, but I hope he has a backup plan.  ALot of the guys don't and its devastating.  For Casey, from there, he went to air rescue, but was found to have had a hernia, which HE knew about for quite awhile but didnt want to say anything, didn't want to get dropped, but it got so bad, he had to have the surgery, so, out of that program.

It seemed in the beginning that in the prebuds, not alot of structure until they class up, which can be weeks to months, so keeping themselves self motivated and in shape can be challenging.  Once they class up and pass qualifcations at Great Lakes, onto San Diego and the real hard work begins.  I wish him the very best of luck.  I will say, for me, it was a blessing in disguise, we never were comfortable with the idea of it, didn't know if he had the personality to be able to handle it, being able to withstand what they do, turning off the emotions, etc.  I think special forces are glamorized alot but the reality is, there are issues that these guys face that we can't even imagine.

Janna - congrats on grandbaby!  He's a cutie. Happy for Chris and Katrina, they do look very happy.

Ah, porn.  Have to tell you ladies a story.  Had a guest check in, some local yocal, he's stayed here a few times over the years and always rents a few porn videos.  This time, over the course of 16 hours, he purchased $986.00 worth!  When we did the credit check, caught it, turned off his movies, called the room, no answer.  He then checks out.  I get a call a few days later, wants to know his final bill, I tell him its $1,204, he says your have to be kidding me.  NOPE!  I started to read a list of the titles, he said I did watch it but thought it was an all day pass.  NOPE, try again.  Each time you choose a title, it tells you how much it is.  So, he wants me to cut him some slack.  NOPE!  Reason is, hotels make next to nothing off of movies, and we pay for them even if we take it off a guests bill.  Back in the day, the titles used to print on the folios, now, you can tell by the price what kind of movie they watched.

Yep, boys are not easy to raise.  I recall several summers ago, the 3 of us went to Vegas, took a side trip and saw the Hoover Dam, splashed around the pool, sight seeing, etc.... In the evening, hubby and I gambled a few hours, and since Mike wasn't old enough to "hang around the tables" we shooed him on up to the room, knowing full well we'd be there in an hour or so.  Well, the next morning as my hubby is checking us out through the automated check-out system via television remote....what do we see in our room charges??? A very large bill for a "movie".  We were %&$#@!!*% livid!!!  Our stupid son's reasoning: "I figured I could get away with it.....because you'd think it was a regular movie I ordered."

Nice try buddy.  Regular movies don't cost THAT MUCH!   We can laugh about it now.....but back then....it was a long, long ride in the desert, going back home.

boys! lol

Casey is back in bremerton after a month hop and has a few weeks before he leaves again for 8 months.  UGH.......  He does get to come home for 10 days, so we are going to do all the holidays he will miss during that time.  Im trying to be positve but this just sucks.  He's SO down right now, hard to find the right words to pick him up.

Finally got the new carpet in, and I LOVE IT!  I told the youngest that I would NOT want to be the person who has the first spill on the carpet.  Holding on any yard work, just too hot.  Had a horrible dust storm on Saturday, just had the pool cleaned and now it looks like half of the neighborhoods leaves and crap are in it.  I was so lookoing forward to doing nothingon Sunday, layring out by the pool with a good book.  NOPE!  Spent it cleaning up.  Oh well, probably saved me from a sunburn.  Preston starts  his senior year in a few weeks and it seems that he saved all the crappy teenage attitude for this past 2 weeks.  Up until then, he was really good and we got along great.  Now, I want to lock him in his room until he snaps out of it!  Oh well, its my last one and Im already having a hard time.  Hubby............he's busy planning all of the kid free activities we are going to do.

Hope Chris and Katrina are doing well and that things will work out how they were meant to be.  SO hard to sit on the sidelines and just watch.  Thats probably what the issue is with Preston and I, he's pulling away and Im pulling him back in.  Have a great week ladies, and Lauren, I feel for you.  The heat is horrible.  Me personally, I would rather be cold, you can put more clothes on but the heat, makes me sick.
