Funny ladies:) I must have pretty hands. My hair is tragic and my lazy self has not worked out half as much as I have slept this summer.Anyway I have been emailing Charlie everyday. He is ok Caught some stomach flu.:( He was so happy about two weeks ago when he received the care package I sent :)It is so good to get stuff from home...keeps them sane I think.
lololol how's my typing?
you all are always so funny! i love reading everything:) Hey Trish what is that freezing word you nspoke of? I went to the Dr. only to find my iron was so low and even worse my vitamin D. No wonder...i never go outside except from car to stores.
i am soooo excited my navy mom sister aka Joeysmom..Liz is coming to visit! We will finally meet in person. After 2 years of texts calls and skype, Remember when she was online at the meet and greet for pir? well we are official besties and i am soooooo excited to meet her live ! hey trish we should all have lunch . is not until late october.
Charlie is back out to sea and doing fine. We keep in touch through e-mails. My daughter turns 16 on tjhe 25th and gets her license. talk about feeling old! time flies!!!!
Went to see Magic Mike on opening night with about a group of 20 friends. Women all in their 40's. There were other groups of women and was like a huge bachelorette party in the theater. As the theater filled up we all clearly saw it was only women there to see it. There were 3 or 4 men with their wives or girlfriends. Each time a man walked in all the women in the theater whooped and hollered and clapped that a male actually had the guys to show up! It was a riot!!! So much fun. Keep in mind that was opening night. The following week we saw "Ted".
Funny. This is probably the first time in our cultural history that women lined up to see a "Stripper" movie.....and men lined up to see a movie with a "Teddy" bear!!!! :)
Trish & Lauren, I know you each have younger sons toying with the idea of joining the military. I'd tell the older ones to WARN their bros about the reality of military life. (It's been rumored that sometimes they'll listen to siblings over parents.) lol
Wow. I can't believe Casey's ship is headed out again so soon. That is just not fair. No wonder morale is low within the military. Let's hope things go better for our boys.
It seems like the Navy sure is flexing their muscle with all these quick turn-around deployments. I can't help wonder if this is politically motivated with elections around the corner?
It's funny how the grass is always greener: Your boys complaining about being out to sea....and mine complaining that he never got to get on a naval ship and "see the world". He's sick of being stuck on land in Virginia.
Mike said he definitely wants to go to college when he gets back. (Music to our ears!) I can't believe how two years has flown by. Two more years....let the countdown begin!
Glad you guys saw "Ted". Mike even got to see it on base with a group of friends. Said he's going to see it again.
It's weird, how that countdown calendar until our kids graduated bootcamp is now (in my mind) being a countdown until our boys come back home. My kid is out in two years too.
Thank God.
I do think the Navy has been good, in a way. He has calmed down, MUCH more mature, the last time it was amazing sitting down talking to him. With that being said, it just sucks how much it seems that they get screwed sometimes, paperwork is always getting lost, etc. I mean, really? We can go to war,but we can't NOT lose paperwork?
Going to see Magic Mike this weekend with some girlfriends. Out of the ordinary for me, but lately, feel the need to shake things up. WIth the kids growing up and out of the house, feeling a little old lately and Im 42!
I am NOT a happy navy mom right now. I know that plans change and all but it seems that Casey just keeps getting the short end. They weren't supposed to leave on another deployement until Dec, that was a week ago and then it was to be for four months. Manageable. He found about 3 days ago, NOPE, heading back out in August for over 8 months. They are already out for a month, and will be back just in time to pack and leave again. I know that deployments are part of the navy, but they just got back in March from an 8 month deployment! His spirits are very low, he just passed his 2 year mark and I think all he's doing is counting down. First they missed Fleet week, then all the fun in Hawaii, just to head right back out. A friend was complaining the other day that her son hasn't been on a deployment in the 3 years he's been in. Seriously! I know a bunch of sailors would trade places. Grrrr............... Just when he was getting settled in Bremerton, sounds like he has a nice girlfriend, which we all know won't last now. Just mad right now. Then, I get a call from an Army recruitor yesterday, wanting to talk to my youngest (who will be a senior). Nope, not going to happen.
San Diego was good. Hate to say it but what happened to the weather? We were freezing the whole time. Oh well, its a cool place to visit, got to see Casey and tour the ship with the whole family (my nieces, 6 and 4, said it was the coolest part of the trip. too funny!) The zoo was amazing and we did head to the beach on Thrusday (sucked it up, cold) and then Friday, it did warm up. I'm a people watcher and was entertained for hours. I did see the "fireworks". We were just getting on the bridge to head back to the coronado when it went off. Scared the daylights out of us.
Lauren - we did see Ted on vacation. Im like you, I love the raunchy humor and was NOT disappointed. I don't think I've laughed that hard in a long time. Its was so wrong, but hilarious.
Today will be 114, record is 115 and already 96 when I left for work this morning at 7.
