Oh what a difference a year makes, my Sailor just called to tell me that he is getting married tomorrow, I like his gf, fiancee, future wife, but Lord they are sooooo young! Im not sure what to think anyone else dealing with this? They are both only 20. And they are getting married in Bremerton, WA so I cannot even attend. I am soooooooo sad about not being there to see my only child get married.

Yah, you're right. During boot camp, it seemed like 8 weeks was FOREVER. Now I communicate with Jake once or twice a month. He's got shore duty. Right now, it's easy. I might tighten up a bit more when he gets sea duty. Stick by me, gals!

Hello to all, just got back home from a week with my sailor and his gf in Bremerton, we had an awesome visit, got to Seattle for a day, Mt. Ranier for a day and lots of talk time. He has a really cute duplex 10 min from the shipyard and appears to be adjusting well. We weren't able to visit the ship but will just to plan another trip out there later. Feels good to be home, but miss my son already. Ahhhh the life of Navy Moms. lol

Jackie - My son has been in Norfolk for the past 7 months. If you have any questions about it, feel free to contact me. My son is on the USS Wasp, but lives in military housing with his wife when the ship is in port. We are in Norfolk right now visiting my son for the week while his ship is here. It's great here and lots to see and do, especially since Virginia Beach is only 12 miles away!

I have to tell you all how exciting it was to attend Sam's A School graduation. Her class was small (15) and half of parents were there. I was very blessed to meet Sam's Sunday (church) mother. Amazingly we have the same hair stlye. Being in Pensacola and spending every night with my daughter was so much fun. She was supposed to come home for two weeks but her chit was not signed. She should be coming home for Christmas. Her next stop will be Norfolk. It's hard to believe that their one year graduation anniversary is coming up real soon.

well, doug finally got his orders for c school. he's going to dam neck in sept! he's anxious to leave great lakes! he's part of the group taking the picture of the live flag, which hasnt been done since 1917. They're taking the picture today (flag day) and its supposed to be a segment on nat geographic sometime. i guess he'll be part of history (this is what they're telling him) but the sailors just feel hot and miserable standing in the sun all day while they make sure everybody's in their place.

My son left for boot camp a year ago June 11th, too. It's hard to believe it's been a year. The boot camp time went by so slowly, but when he was in A-school and C-school, time went by much faster. Now that he's out on deployment on the ship, time is back to moving slowly. It sure has been a year of roller-coaster emotions, but I'm so proud of all that he has accomplished and am very happy for him. I just miss him so much!
