Happy Monday, my daughter just called - she graduated from A School in Pensacola this morning. She's excited. They have been told that they have to stay in the barrack till the storm goes thru. They have their plans to watch movies on someone's computer.

She's getting her orders Friday, so that when we will know when she can come home before she has to report to the USS George Washington in Japan.

I’m so very proud of my daughter and so very Thankful for the all the support on this website. Thank you, couldn’t have done it with out you.

MommaBecky, yes, I did the same thing.......got in touch with my 2 Sailor sons.

Suzanne, the things to say to your daughter right now are words of comfort. I'm sure the physicians took every precaution in talking to her and evaluating her to the point that you can be assured that the best thing for her right now is to separate.

I'm pretty sure that, in addition to depression, your daughter will most likely be also experiencing feelings of inadequacy for not completing. So, she needs a LOT of assurance that this is "OKAY" and is what she needs.

She needs to be told that this is best for her and it just means that this is not the path she is to take. What is her path she will probably want to know.......tell her that will become apparent further down the road and to not think about that right now.

At this time, she needs lots of words of love, a lot of hugs, and reassurance that all is okay and this is not meant to be for her. And all eventually will be okay, Mamma, it really will. You need to take care of yourself also.....so you can help take care of her. I'm sure the military will also talk to you about care for her when she comes home.....

Glad you came here........you know you always can!

Prayers to our Central Texas Army folk.....we've had 12 soldiers killed. 31 injured in a mass shooting at Fort Hood Army base. It was in the intake/processing center where soldiers were preparing to ship out for deployment......the killer allegedly was another soldier who was upset at being deployed. He's been killed...

Hi everyone, hope all is well with you and your families. Jennifer is having a rough week. Two of her good friends left this last weekend and it's been hard on her. She will be finishing ABE school next week and she said that she will be on hold for awhile before she can come home. Then after her visit home, she will be going to Japan. She's going to be on the George Washington. She's feeling a little overwhelmed and nervous - all the changes going on. It's just so hard to be so far away from her. I tell her to remember why she's doing this, to stay strong and she will be home soon.

Since she's been in Pensacola and we have the cell phones to communicate, I haven't been sending the cards with all the support like I did when she was in BC, so I sent 2 this morning - hoping that will help her.

Susan, I read your post - Marisssa is getting married. Wow. Congratulations. Take care everyone.....

Dee, it's an adjustment no doubt.......my son had his 18th birthday nine days after he arrived at boot camp this summer. I have two sons in the Navy.....both far away from home. I'm dealing with the "empty nest" thingy. I have to remind myself, frequently, that this is what my sons want. Not necessarily what I want. But this is what they have chosen and they are both very happy. And then I further have to remind myself that this is what being a Mother is all about...raising them to be happy and to make good choices. Don't get me wrong, I miss them terribly. And I'm having to have many mental conversations with myself. Change is good but it doesn't mean it's easy. But I know it will get easier.

Yes, how ironic this talk is......my son and I text every day. Talk several times per week. He's waiting in Pensacola for his school to start - contract is for rescue swimmer. He's very happy. I'm aching for a hug and told him this tonight. Some days for me are good. Some days for me are not so good. But I'm happy he's happy - this is a "Mom" thing I do believe.
