~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option.
~It is also a good idea to change your visibility settings for your Profile Page (MY PAGE) to "Just my friends".

On BattleStations, there are never any on Fri or Sat nights....but they usually go Thurs night the week before PIR week...they then pick them back up again either Sun or Mon night of PIR week. Up to 4 divisions can go through a night....usually 2 sets of brother divisions but sometimes an 900 or 800 division will go with a set of brother divisions, so just 3. Occasionally in smaller PIR groups, they may just have two divisions go through sometimes--bult brother divisions always go together. If your SR tells you a date for his/her division to go through, be sure not to post it here. We cannot post division-specific dates on here or on FB .... but we CAN private message them. So if you get one for a division, you can post that you have one for Div ___ and ask others to friend request/message you for it. It is a 12 hr overnight drill....they have a capping ceremony when they finish....trading their Recruit caps for their Navy caps...very emotional for them....they will make their calls home (I'm a Sailor calls) in the afternoon....could be as early as 2 pm Central time or later into the early evening. Be sure to post when you get that I'm a Sailor call and post the division number.
Here is a link to a video about BS.
Is there a place within this site that explains battle stations?
Battle Stations usually starts the week before PIR, and two to four divisions go through each night. It depends on number of divisions more than number of recruits as to how many division go through each night.
Does anyone know when the next phone call from our SR might be allowed? Do we have to wait until after Battle Stations? I have been trying to keep my phone on me all the time just in case, but I really doubt they will get to call again for awhile. Getting the letters is great though. Much needed. I've only met 2 with SRs in Div 196? Anyone else beside mamah1108 or chronicles16?
I looked tirelessly online, but finally went through Triple A.
When we made our plans, I really wanted Southwest (no ticket change fees, no baggage fees and open seating based on boarding), as I have my ex and his Dad - both handicapped.
We ended up with coming in mid-morning Thursday and are leaving Saturday evening - both direct flights between Midway and Connecticut. We are staying at the Red Roof Waukegan, the one on the flyer. Though we have a car (which will be easier for the men to get into) - they have a shuttle to and from the graduation.
@Marlo, I am on the red-eye. I will be arriving at 1:45am, Lol! I need to check flight prices now since you mentioned it...
I will be flying out on June 21 through Southwest (they always have great CS) arriving at Midway. Originally, I reserved rental car through Expedia and it was $$$ I re-booked through Kayak and paid half the price by paying for the rental at the time of booking. I reserved one night at the Navy Lodge for the 21st to be close to RTC for PIR. I have not booked return flight, but I am gambling on the price going down. My son is on ship 200 and he is CS going to Ft. Lee for A school. He doesn't know when he is leaving. I guess we both will find out soon. Just cheering for him to make it through BC right now and all else will come. I do hope that he will get time off after PIR so, we can catch up however, Ft. Lee is 2 hours from where I live so, guessing we will be okay...
