~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option.

~It is also a good idea to change your visibility settings for your Profile Page (MY PAGE) to "Just my friends".

I wasn't expecting a call this weekend, but Mother's Day was MUCH harder than I thought it would be. The sermon at church was about mothers and I sniffled through the entire thing. An acquaintance stopped by to ask how my Mother's Day was going and I burst into tears. I had NO idea that I would be this emotional about my son being gone. Even though I know that the Navy is a good decision for him. I'm sure it will get easier. And I look forward to seeing him in June.

There is no rhyme or reason for the scheduling of phone calls so be ready at any time!  Even "scheduled" division calls that you hear about can be changed.

Comment by diannep on May 15, 2017 at 8:45am

M'smom:  They have a chance to get a phone card in the NEX.  They are issued debit cards that can be used for their supplies.  Yes, they pay for them out of their pay but makes it easier for them to buy what they need.  But it doesn't hurt to mail them a phone card...they can always share it with others if they already got one.

M's mom,

Mine is Ship 14 Div 197. I'm thinking that our weekend for calls will be next weekend. We didn't know about the calling cards either. I sent him a card once we received his address. It isn't too late to send him one I'm thinking...

Mines in ship 14 Div 198, I didn't get a call yet...
We didn't know we had to send calling cards with him. He wasn't supposed to leave until November. He got that early call, we didn't have much time to prepare.

I hope your Mother's Day got a little better Ter-bear! My recruit is sip 12 div 193, and I got a call a couple hours ago... sounded like they were letting everyone call. She said they originally mentioned tomorrow to her, but then she got to call today, so crossing my fingers for you, that you hear from yours soon!!

I received the Form Letter from our SR today!  Woohoo!!!  He also sent a personal note which was such a blessing!

Marlo-  I believe the only place pictures are posted is here...

 https://www.facebook.com/NavyRecruitTrainingCommand/

They are random and few, aside from each Friday's PIR.  If you scroll back  through the comment wall you may find a better link with a reminder to not request photos of a particular division.
