~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option.

~It is also a good idea to change your visibility settings for your Profile Page (MY PAGE) to "Just my friends".

Thank you for the encouragement! Sarge's Meet and Greet looks great! We are planning to go.

I'm sure the letter will arrive soon. Keep up the faith!

We are planning to stay at the Holiday Inn in Waukegan. It appears to be located near the Sarge's Meet & Greet, which will take place the evening before PIR. It sounded like a wonderful opportunity to talk to other families and learn about PIR from Sarge. If interested, check out mynavytaxi.com   He & his wife provide a buffet meal, and ask only for a donation.

Wonderful! So glad you got the letter. We still have not received ours. The Lord is sovereign. Is anyone going to PIR planning to stay at the Navy Lodge?
Also the three digit airport codes for Milwakee is MKE and for Chicago Midway is MID- thank you Diannep for your encouragement ;) Blessing's to all you sweet mama's as you faithfully look for opportunities to encourage your SR.

My son is in Div 198. We've been writing letters and have reservations for PIR weekend. I'm looking forward to hearing his voice or getting a letter! I will be crushed if I miss his call!

You sound like me luckywoo!!  My letter arrived Monday afternoon - I have been writing him short letters since 5/1 - mailed out 5 yesterday, another 4 going today!!

My son is also on Ship 14, Division 197.  Been writing one short letter every day since we received the address a couple of days ago.  Looking forward to seeing him graduate and think of what he is doing every minute of every day!

*charges....sorry, Edit feature seems to not be working right now.

Just a reminder like Chronicles obviously knows....Southwest Airlines changes no change fee (just difference in fare which in our case was cheaper when we changed!  But sadly another airlines that charged a change fee...)....2 bags check for free also.  They fly into both Chicago-Midway and Milwaukee...MLK is a bit further but shorter drive due to no traffic....car rental is probably cheaper there too.

Comment by Chronicles16 on May 9, 2017 at 9:01pm

We are definitely planning to attend PIR-  got our plane tickets right away when we found out the date (on Southwest in case we need to make a change ;)  Sorry- thebeautyshoppe- I spelled your name wrong.  Does anyone know how to tag someone if we are able?
