OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option.

~It is also a good idea to change your visibility settings for your Profile Page (MY PAGE) to "Just my friends".

Navy Mom to AJ.  Hope it all worked out this morning and you were there early enough to get the seats you wanted!

Flordel:  Hope you were able to download the gate pass up there...or that you took a shuttle to PIR so as not to have to have one!

Just landed in Chicago. We decided to rent a car last minute. So how do we go about the parking pass?

  1. Thank you Diannep for the helpful tip for tomorrow. We drove in so we will definitely take your advice so hope to get a good seat. We are going to Sarge'so tonight, and looking forward to meeting everyone. Division 200 mom.

Safe travel today....enjoy Sarge's MeetandGreet tonight and be EARLY to PIR tomorrow.  You will not regret that.  Gates open at 6:30 a.m.  If driving, get in the car line long before that.  If taking a shuttle, try to get on the earliest one.  We did that and it worked out great.  Arrived in the PIR hall a few minutes after 7 a.m.  Had 9 divisions in our PIR group so a little smaller than this one.  Some of the "choice" seats in our division section were already taken so being early would be a good thing if you want to choose your seating!
