Can anyone offer tips on getting in with a couple extra guests who wernt put on the guest list? We have three extras...and heard that with 10 divisions at SR's grad date we shouldnt have an issue with getting them in. They just have to enter with a guest who IS on the list and then will be told if there is room.

Any advice? Two are flying in from Florida.

This info is outdated.  The policy is now for those 2 and under to enter without being on the Access List, but the rest of the info is correct, except that you will need a Birth Certificate or SS card for your child age 2 or under.

Because the RTC website posted "no extras" for two different PIR groups and not ours, I sent an email for clarification on bringing extras.  I received an email from RTC stating that until further notice, there will be no extra seating available.  Each SR is allowed 4 names only on their list.  Same rules apply for under 12 y.o and active/retired military.

As a follow-up to this discussion, I found the following on the RTC website (under Upcoming Graduations)...

The following RTC policy will be enforced for all graduations beginning with the January 4th, 2013 PIR.  ALL GUESTS, including Active Duty/Retired Military Personnel, and those aged three and older MUST be on the access list. (Please note: Children two and under do not need to be on the access list.)

I also have a dilemma. It wont be until late summer before we will heading out but he will have (4) tickets;

Dad's side:1 for Dad, 1 for his grandfather

For our side: There is me (Mom) Step Dad, who is a Navy vet (will a DD214 suffice?) our daughter who is 11 (so I think she is Okay) son who is 14, daughter who is 22 and infant nephew.

If I understand right, for our side, Step Dad and 11 yr old sister, and infant nephew can get in without counting.? Right? The me and 1 sibling would round out the 4 and we could possibly get the last sibling in if there is room but maybe not sit next to eachother?

PS Would I have to sit with my Ex?

Things have changed and beginning with the 01/04/2013 PIR, everyone 3 years old and older must be on the Access List in order to attend PIR or even be on the RTC (those not on the Access List are now being told by security to return to the car or leave the RTC completely since they are not authorized to be on the RTC, so we advise that extras remain at the hotel).  There is no longer any Stand-by waiting as in previous years.  Your future Sailor will be able to put 3 or 4 names on the Access List depending on the size of his TG, so talk with him to see who the 3 most important people to him would be and who would also go if he were allowed 4 people.  No, the Sailor's guests do not have to arrive together (you can print multiple gate passes if neede) and they do not have to sit together at PIR.  You choose your own seats within the bleacher seats.  Your only extra guest would be the infant based on the new policy.  See http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/upcoming_grads.asp and page 2 of http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/pdfs/FamilyGuide.pdf.

PLEASE NOTE:  The info in this Discussion is now outdated.  Extra guests can no longer attend.  Only those on the Access List can attend PIR unless they are ages 2 and under (lap babies) and then they can get in without being on the Access List.  Again everyone (except those ages 2 and under) must be on the Access List to attend PIR.  The recruit is able to have 3 or 4 guests for PIR depending on the size of the TG.  Those not on the Access List should wait at the hotel or at another location away from the RTC and see the new Sailor later.

See http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/pdfs/FamilyGuide.pdf and http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/upcoming_grads.asp.

Alright, In the paper that my son sent the rules were altered by him. I think they might have changed them??

Attachments:

What he has changed it to is what the policy is as of January 2013.  See http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/pdfs/FamilyGuide_v14Mar2013.pdf and http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/upcoming_grads.asp.

If my SR only has 2 coming to PIR and another SR has 5 coming to PIR, can my SR put his friend's extra guest on his access list to allow for his 5 guests to come to PIR?

No, that is no longer allowed and if it were to be done, the recruits/Sailors involved would both get into BIG trouble if it were discovered that they did it--as in not getting Liberty, being delayed in shipping to "A" School..... The RTC considers it a breach of security to do so. The recruits are the sponsors of those on the Access List and even though the other recruit knows them, your recruit would not. Also, if someone does not pass who put extras on his/her list, then those extras would not know and that would cause a problem.

thanks Lemonelephant. That is what I thought. My SR called last night and was the topic came up. I told him I didn't think it was a good idea. Now I can tell definitely DON'T do it.
