security is there way before 5, they just don't open until 5am.
You wait out in the ticketing area, until the "cattle gates" open, I say this because security takes a long time at 5am with the really long lines.
Onces you are in the main airport, there is plenty to do and we didn't go to gate until about an hour before flight, we sat in the food court area and he talked to us and all his Shipmates.
I hope this makes sense?

Hi everyone, I had a question.
So as far as we know, my SR will be flying out to Pensacola on Saturday sometime. So I've been reading the comments and seen that yes we can join him at the airport and go through the gate with him
However, I was wondering are people other than family allowed?
I am his Girlfriend and I am worried they won't let me through since I'm not family. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Just got word today that my son will be a Saturday departure. :( He's heading to South Carolina - said he did job classification for EM and/or ET Nuke. Soooooo, we have only Friday with him and in all likelihood we will see him off at the airport on Saturday. I'm sure we'll get more info as time goes on.
He sounded rather disappointed - he was really hoping we'd be able to spend the weekend together - guess not. sigh
