For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Veterans and PIR
I know I have seen this question posted before and now I cannot find it.
My son has a PIR of 06/Jan/2012. We have 3 family members that are veterans and are wanting to attend. If I am not mistaken, from what I have gathered, they would not be counted as one of the 4 needed on the PIR list.
My question is, if they are to attend, how do we go about "proving" so to speak that they are vets, seeing that they no longer have their military ID's.
I am hoping that someone can help me get a better understanding as to how to do this, before my SR places them as one of the 4 on his list.

Active military personnel, retired military, and veterans do not have to be listed on the access list to attend if they have current military ID. They must show proper military ID and must arrive with someone on the access list or walk in. ...They do not have to be in uniform. (Remember that not all veterans have military ID and if you have a veteran who does not, s/he would have to be on the access list or would have to wait in the Visitors Center until the others are seated to be allowed in.)
Since the January 6 PIR only has 9 Divisions, it is a very good possibility that all of the extra guests will be allowed in.
