I'm going broke sending civilian clothes to Great Lakes. Switching to gift cards, better yet, telling him to buy his own clothes...he has a job now....LOL He finally started his A school, whew, 6 weeks on hold. Welcome to the Navy!

Guess what I got delivered today via Fed Ex? The PIR dvd!!!! Woo hoo! Yes we've watched it already, it was done well but the audio on mine is a bit hit and miss, but who cares, it brings back so many wonderful memories of a wonderful weekend. God bless y'all!

Has anyone gotten their copy of PIR yet? Christian has asked me if we got our copy yet, no, but maybe soon.

hi, just a note and not sure if it is like this for all A schools but at Stevens (Nuke) besides the 40 hours of classroom they have like a mandatory 15 hours of studytime they have to do, and if they start doing bad on tests they get assigned more studytime, so a normal day is at least 10 hours of school and possibly more if grades slip.
hope everyone has a great weekend - today we got 4 inches of snow...arghh

Sue, we're still pulling for your son! Keep us posted! Glad he's feeling better and healthy again.

Sharon, isn't that just awesome? Doesn't your chest just swell with pride? Christian is saving his money right now to come home for Christmas, he's been online checking prices but hasn't purchased them yet because he's waiting to make sure he'll get his liberty pass (or whatever they call it). He's going to SC to visit one of his division mate and family, then home to CA. His A school has been pushed back a couple of weeks and isn't enjoying the lousy weather Great Lakes has been getting.

Yeah, I've noticed that this group got a little quite since PIR! Does everyone have hangovers now? LOL I love this group! So glad that we're all here for each other! God bless our Sailors, God bless all Navy families. Be sure to take your pictures of your sailor, present, and past, to Wal Mart and have them posted on the Wall of Honor, Veterans Day. Also, veterans, you can get a free meal on Veterans Day from Applebee's too! Thank you Wal Mart & Applebees!

Sharon, Christian said they've been getting light snow in evenings/over night, but it hasn't been sticking to the ground. Has he ever lived in snow before??? Heck NO, we're Nor Cal Valley people here! Lake Tahoe is closest snow we see and it's pretty from our 2 hour drive distance. Just got word this a.m. that his a school will begin in two weeks and he received more info, so when he called his spirit was much better and he's getting excited again. I appreciate the invite if Christian was with your son Sharon, I'd open my door to alumni of the group as well. Our kids need love and support, we may not be blood related, but we are family and we have to be here for each other good times and bad. Blessings to all. Hope all your sailors are doing well in a school or waiting to start. Have wonderful weekend all!

Sharon, i know what you mean about the phone calls, its been wonderful. I hve been getting about 2 a week and they are actually pretty long calls. He said they didnt have anyone distributing mail for awhile so lots of stuff got piled up. I think Steven would be real bored to if he wasnt able to start classes right away. I hope you have a good weekend, I'm hoping we dont get anymore snow for at least a couple of weeks. .

Sharon - tahnks for the congrats! but alas it wasnt meant to be. Steven is no longer class leader, which is probably good - less stree and able to concentrate on school.
He is now Master of Arms - I'll have to look it up. He started classes on Tuesday and is loving it, hes been out of college a few years so its been awhile since hes really had to apply himself. He said they are required to have 15 extra hours a week studying - that is on top of the actual classes/school everyday. Hope JH is doing good too!

Hey hey Navy moms (and dads too)!!! Well got a phone call from Christian today, he's bummed out. His A school was suppose to begin next week but maybe pushed back until November now. I told him to enjoy the "down time" right now because once he gets into school he may not be able to call home every day like he does now. He's anxious I know, but this is a lesson in life and to not think for one minute that the petty officers aren't paying attention who's handling these set backs and who's not. It'll all work out in the long run. Sharon, what is your son's rate? Where is he now waiting on school? Sent out a box of clothes today, cost $17.40 to ship and will take 7 days to get there. Was cheaper to send bigger box then the boxes post office has because I'd have to send 3 of their "big" boxes to the box I shipped off today, so don't be fooled by "if it fits, it ships"

I too sent out a fitted sheet per my sons request. Actually I snet a set of sheets, he said they could have them as long as they were a solid color. I havent heard from him this week but he started school yesterday and I guess once school starts they are pretty busy. He applied for and was chosen as class leader (marches them to class, makes sure they maintain professionalism in the classroom, etc). This should fit his personality well.
