Today I miss my Sailor, my tears I try to hide

If only I could hold him, have him at my side

But I'm a Navy mom, and strong I have to be

Weather he be home, ashore, or out to sea

I pray my job was done well, and he knows in his heart

I'm proud that he's my son, and that I'll do my part

Today my mind is filled, with thoughts of all our fleet

So proudly as they serve, and my heart skips a beat

He grows each day I know, into a greater man

I'm entrusting him to God, to fill a greater plan

The Lord he knows us both, and faithfully will keep

My Sailor close to me, until I'm off to sleep

so while I cannot hold him, my Sailor now he serves

I'll keep the watch and duty, and try to calm my nerves

Today I miss my Sailor, and while I am so proud

The silence with him gone, rings in my ears so loud

To hear his voice I'd run, to hold him close I'd fall

I hope again today, I'll get that precious call

Until the Lord sees fit, to bring him home to me

A NavyStrong Momma, is what I'll have to be

OK, but I have to say again, the authors name is on the bottom. I do not claim ownership of that, but it makes me grin from ear to ear.

Princess, is that at Richland or Haltom? Just curious.
Well, susie, I am a tosser too, but the ratio of tossing doesn't equal the incoming, I guess. My son and I always took huge boxes to goodwill and the salvation army all the time, but it doesn't matter, we just have our hands in too many fires. My husband is the Director of the Texas Chefs association here, and he's been doing ice carvings for about 10-12 yrs. Before that, he did vegetables and fruits carvings, and decided to give it a try. So now he does weddings at country clubs, etc.

Keep digging? maybe I should take a picture of my house and post it. No, I would be too embaressed. 900 sq ft. and contents moved into from a house with 2 stories, basement, garage, and when our restaurant closed down, all THAT STUFF came home too!
I have to move my saddles to open the dryer and the walk path is only a foot and 1/2 wide in most places. Help! I need my tack room finished for one thing - and a garage for my husband and his tools and ice carving equipment and another room for my side business, and a kitchen 4 times as big for all the equipment, and AN OFFICE!!!
While we're asking - my husband wants a work out room. All our work out equipment is under a carport getting rusted and ruined. Can't make it into an addition, because they couldn't get back there to give us propane if we did.

Lisa, our local high school did a program with my son in it. he wasn't there, but they showed his pictures and told where he had his orders, etc. I am going to try to get a video - someone said they taped it.

I recently called some ladies "Gals" (before I had read the Poem) and the women looked at me like I was weird. I said, OK, would you rather I call ya'll broads?

Wow Susie, he is extremely talented. I too, wrote and was published when I was in High School, poems and short stories, but can't seem to find the time anymore, or the inspiration. However, I did write something about my son in the Navy and how strange life seems to come and go in cycles. I sure do wish I could find where I put it - I spend most my time looking for stuff - LOL!!!!
