(Saturday June 13, 2009)

Saturday evening we ate hot dogs and drank root beer floats, then we played Attack Uno! with Savanah and Brandon (NAS Oceana) and Trever (USS Gunston Hall)! Savanah won the game! Then we went into the living room and just talked and visited. Then we shared prayer requests and prayed together. We were really surprised too! We got a telephone call from a former sailor, Sean, who we had not heard from in two years. That was a real treat! We are now friends on Facebook.

(Sunday June 14 2009)

Great Sunday! Enjoyed Sunday School and the Morning Worship service at Azalea Garden Church. Pastor Vicker's sermon was was good, not an easy one to hear, but good. God doesn't always say yes when we pray. Sometimes He says no. I do love our altar services where we can pray and minister to each other after the service!

After church it was on to our house for dinner and fellowship. Trever (USS Gunston Hall) got called back in to work, but Savannah and Brandon (NAS Oceana) came over, and we also invited Erene, Bill, Julie, and Brantley from the Young Adult Group. So we had a really nice group. My daughter Sarah stopped by for a while too.

Lord God, I pray for the new sailor, Ryan. You are the healer and comforter. Please be with him and his family. Guide and direct the Drs, Nurses and others caring for him.

Also, Lord please watch over my son, Allen while he travels back from Michigan to Virginia. Surround him and his vehicle with a band of protective angels. I pray that he makes it back to his home in VA without accident or incident.

Thank you, Father for allowing us to come to You with whatever needs we have.

Amen

Happy 4th of July!....

Let' s get this started now,
So it will be out there on the fourth!

I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG,
OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ,
AND TO THE REPUBLIC,
FOR WHICH IT STANDS,
ONE NATION
UNDER GOD,
IN DI VISIBLE,
WITH LIBERTY
AND JUSTICE FOR ALL!

KEEP IT LIT!! KEEP IT LIT!
For all of our other military personnel, where ever they may be.
Please
Support all of the troops defending our Country.

And May God Bless our Military ~
who are constantly protecting our Country and our Freedoms.
Thanks to them, and their families for their continious sacrifices,
we can celebrate Independence Day.

We must never forget who gets the credit for the freedoms we have,
of which we should be eternally grateful.

I watched the flag pass by one day.
It fluttered in the breeze.
A young Marine saluted it,
And then he stood at ease.
I looked at him in uniform;
so young, so tall, so proud.
With hair cut square and eyes alert,
he'd stand out in any crowd.
I thought how many men like him
had fallen through the years.
How many died on foreign soil;
how many mothers' tears?
How many pilots' planes shot down?
How many died at sea?
How many foxholes were soldiers' graves?
No, freedom isn't free.
I heard the sound of Taps one night,
when everything was still.
I listened to the bugler play
And felt a sudden chill.
I wondered just how many times
That Taps had meant 'Amen.'
When a flag had draped a coffin
of a brother or a friend.
I thought of all the children,
of the mothers and the wives,
of fathers, sons and husbands
With interrupted lives.
I thought about a graveyard
At the bottom of the sea.
Of unmarked graves in Arlington .
No, freedom isn't free.

Enjoy Your Freedom
and
God Bless Our Troops.

Please stop for a moment
and say a prayer
for the our servicemen and women and their famlies.

Of all the gifts you could give a U.S. Soldier,
prayer is the very best one.

I pray for the sub base and the drinking and driving that is going on at the Sub base in Groton, CT.

Help all the sailors go to Chapel of their choice and not drinking and driving.

Thank you Father God for bringing my sailor home safely to me to visit this week. Please continue to watch over him, guide and protect him. Give us the much needed time to bond again together, because we never know when the next time we will see each other. Lord, you know my heart and mind. You know all the needs and requests. Please continue to watch over Luke in Afghanistan. Bring him and his squardon home safely as planned. I know Ali is counting on him being home in June, please let it be when they were told he would be home. Lord, I pray for all the other families and service members who are calling out to you for your protect, guidance, comfort and whatever else is needed. Thank you Father God for being with us all the time, even when we don't think you are there or are needed. In your wonderful, blessed name we pray. Amen!

Hi God
Just stopping in to thank you for the day that we had together with our sailor, just doing ordinary things as we prepare for his wedding. Thanks for his having a day off we hadn't anticipated on Friday. For giving us safe driving conditions to get to Goose Creek and for a safe flight home before the wedding this weekend.
And God, continue to watch over our sailor and his upcoming transition to marriage. May it be as long and fulfilling as You have made ours.
See you later today, God!
