Hi ladies, just got our grad package and I'm confused as our son circled all the details about grad 'n go. We thought he was staying in GL for A school so don't know if something has changed or what.

In the meantime, thought I would go ahead and at least make our hotel plans and I am finding that with some of the hotels on the information sheet that they provided only hold a limited # of rooms for the special graduation rate. For example one hotel wanted $139 per night - when I asked her if that was the graduation special rate, she told me no, those rooms are $55 per night but they only hold so many of them and they are all booked!

So if you have not booked your room as of yet, you may want to do so soon.

I need to make airplane reservations as well but trying to hold off until we hear from our son so we can understand if we should just fly in for the day or the weekend. I have no desire to spend the weekend in GL if he is leaving after graduation and the airlines are just not flexible about changing flights without it costing more money.

Hey Mary....I also just found out that my son is a grad no go...so we are only going to drive to PIR and then follow him to the airport and spend a couple minutes there with him and off we go back home...so I sure hope its not the same for you...what is it that your son or daughter is doing again???
hi mary, i think the whole div is a grad and go. i don't think it matters what they're doing.
We got a phone call tonight!!! Even though, our son circled the grad 'n go information - he is staying in Great Lakes. He will have to move out of the barracks and over to the "other side" - he will get sometime off during the weekend.

He said they were all instructed to circle the grad 'n go details. Really threw me for a loop as we expected him to stay in Great Lakes for A school.
Sheila, Nick just called - he is staying in Great Lakes for 30 weeks of A school but the whole division had to circle grad ''n go on their paperwork. Friday will probably be ate up as he has to move out of the barracks and over to the other side but hopefully we will get to spend some time with him during the weekend.

So we rolled the dice and made reservations for the full weekend...I'm sorry that you won't have more time with your son. You may want to give him a chance to report to A school and find out what his class schedule will be and think about going down for a long weekend once he settles in.
Kelly -
I would make reservations for the full weekend especially coming from Montana. It is impossible to say for sure but our son did go right from PIR to the other side - it took a couple of hours but by 2:30 that day they released him for the full weekend. He had to call in at night and am but he did not report back to the base until Sunday evening. Not everyone is that lucky - some have to report back each night but I would roll the dice and hope for the best in your case. Even if you have to return him in the evenings - you will be close. They really don't know the specifics of their liberty until PIR...just enjoy your weekend with him!!!
i just booked two rooms at the red carpet inn. one mile from post. $55 for a king and $65 for a double (two dbl beds) they didn't say it was a spec grad rate. try them
We just booked the Homewood Suites, it is $84 per night but it is a separate bedroom with double beds and then a living room area with a sofa bed. It is about 7 miles from the base.
