Hi Donna, don't know about a packing party, it's kind of a busy month for me, but I will be sending some packages to Dijbouti from Little R.I. My son is a Seabee so this one is close to my heart!

Just wondering if anyone in RI is planning a packing party for Molly's Adopt A Sailor's June group.  They are a group of SeaBees in Djibouti (pronounced Jah-booty), Africa.  I believe there are around 150, 20 of whom are females.  Does that sound right to you, Lois?  I don't know what MA Moms might do this month, so I thought I'd see if I could join up with some of you...

Just saw a Molly posting.  The Bataan has lost its FB connections w/family and friends due to OPSEC violations!!  Don't want that happening to any more of our military, so just a reminder to carefully watch what you post here on N4M, FB, Twitter or whatever.  Remember...

LOOSE LIPS SINK SHIPS

and, the US Navy is watching!!

Or maybe we should plan a road trip to NYC for Fleet Week???

Some MA Navy Moms and I were chatting about how it would be nice if RI & MA Navy Moms had a presence at these events.  You are right, they don't come around that often.  Other N4Ms do things at Navy Weeks, etc.  Why don't we all combine forces and do something too?

What do you think?  Would other RI Moms be interested?  Might be fun.  Lots of work & planning, but fun just the same!!  Let me know what you think.

I'm going to try to re-post a comment that Molly made on Molly's Adopt A Sailor.  You all remember how MAS won $50K from Pepsi Refresh last year.  Well, look what's happened since then...  Aren't you proud to be a part of this?  I know I am.  This is soooo exciting!!!  Molly's Mommas are going national in a huge way!!!!!

From Molly:

MERCY MERCY ME ---- well all I can say (since we are quoting movie stars I will do Sally Field )

THEY LIKE US ,THEY REALLY LIKE US !!!

1) Pepsi will be doing a campaign for and making a big play for supporting the troops here in the next few months. and guess who they have asked to be their *spokespeople* Well to quote the PR gal ---kinda like a spokesmen for what pepsi refresh can do . YEP you guess it US US US !!

Its a 3 fold advertising thing ---- one is a editorial like thing using MAS name as someone that Pepsi helped (the places she said were *like the new york times*)    tee hee hee the other 2 come after that BUT she said TV news  and something else !!  (( yeah in case you were wondering I indeed had all 3 of them in tears))  its how we roll ~~  tee hee hee

ALSO they asked if we would come back in for pepsi again !!   Holy Canolies

Im not too sure if its June or July that we would be voting BUT I do know that there is no rolling over this time Its one month win or loose. So we would have to be on our game right off the bat !!  But whoosh we could do this ---

Our grant manager told me last month that the first 6 months pepsi watches their grant winners and based on what they have seen ,the next 6 months they can step in and help. WELL --- they are indeed helping again I quote Sally "THEY LIKE US , THEY REALLY LIKE US"     geez whats not to like ~  tee hee hee . Im seriously beginning to think Moms are a force like no other !!

HAPPY THURSDAY MY LOVELIES !!   and GOD BLESS our TROOPS --- God Bless their hearts !!

NOW, doesn't that make you want to join "Molly's Adopt A Sailor Project"??  Sign-up under groups and become a part of something bigger than any of us could have imagined!!!  And remember, 100% of everything MAS receives goes right back to our sailors, marines, troops deployed wherever.

(PS  Sorry so long, but this is big news, for a bunch of Navy Moms - no one extra special celebrity - just us, MOMs!)

Navy Mom Cheryl I will PM you my addy for an application.  When does Fleet Week come to RI and where?  I've been hearing that it could be later than usual in Boston, but I don't know how to find out for sure.  Maybe you can tell me who to contact in Boston...

Thanks,

Donna

We'll miss meeting you Jean, but maybe next time.  Also hope to give you all more notice.  We usually go with whatever group "Molly's Adopt A Sailor" has nominated for several reasons.  If you aren't a member of that group you might want to join & check us out (I'm a Molly's Momma).  It can be confusing, but everyone is helpful.  Start just by reading one of the discussions, like "Say Hey in May ... USS Higgins" that will give you an idea about an adopted group. (PS they aren't always Navy, could be Marines, Army...).  Then just read thru some of the posted comments.  The main page is where a LOT of chatting goes on, so you may have to go back a few pages to pick up the thread of what they are talking about!!  It is a very active & helpful group of Moms.  Also, you'll find lots of support from other Moms when it is your child that is deployed.  Just a suggestion.
