Jean C & Cheryl - I would love to know about the USO program too.  I know a couple of other Moms who might like to get involved as well.  Do you mind including us rogue MA Moms??  lol  But seriously, please count me in.

Navy Mom Cheryl, I know I'm late to the discussion, but are they still looking for volunteers at TF Green?  I live in Plainville, MA, not too far from Green.  In fact, my son returned home from his last deployment through Green.  I'd love to volunteer and I do have time available for something like that.  Can you let me know who to contact at the airport, whatever else I need to know & especially if it is still "a go".

Thanks,

Donna

LAST CALL for the packing party on Sunday (5/22).  Please leave me a comment or send me a PM to let me know if you are coming.  Just want to be prepared.  Thanks RI Moms!

When MA Moms have had packing parties, everyone brings some sort of snacks to munch on.  I will supply coffee, tea & something cold to drink too.

My husband is going to check the exit number so that I can send out directions in a bit.

So, everyone remembers the theme and the ship, right?  The USS Higgins.  Summer/water fun for additional items.  Ex: beach towels, beach balls, frizbees, water balloons, squirt guns, sunscreen (?).  Let your imaginations run wild.

Also, please do your best to write some notes to include.  If you can get your hands on some postcards from around the state that would be fun & goes along with summer.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Well, the decision is made.  The packing party will be at my home in Plainville on Sun., 5/22, but the time will be 2pm instead of 1:30.  Gives me plenty of time to get home from church and ready for visitors!!  If anyone would like to come, please let me know and I will PM you my addy and phone number.  Looking forward to meeting some of you.  I am just a few miles down Rte. 1from Emerald Sq. Mall so that will give you some idea of where I am.

Have a great day!

PS  Jean, if your hubby would like to come to bring you, he is very welcome.  I have a MA Mom coming from western MA & she often brings her hubby.  I'll let you know for certain, so he won't feel left out. (My hubby works Sun-Thurs so he won't be here.)

Jean C and Cheryl, I'm from Plainville and TF Green isn't far from me either.  In fact, my son returned from his deployment thru Green.  He is in Groton, CT.  Can you fill me in on what is needed in that lounge?  Right now I am a nurse out of work on disability & I need to find something to fill some time.  Would be happy to get involved in something for the military especially that is closer than going to Boston!!

Hello RI'ers!!  I'm a MA Navy Mom from Plainville.  We are planning a packing party for the USS Higgins on 5/21or 22 (leaning towards the 22nd).  Besides the usual items the sailors are always looking for we have a theme for this party.  The Higgins will be getting ready for their steel beach party and we are going with a summer/water fun theme.  You can get more info on the Higgins on Molly's Adopt A Sailor under the discussion "Say Hey to May" & the USS Higgins.  You might want to join that group and take a look.  It is a VERY active group so don't be blown away with all the chattering going on.  Since MA Navy Moms is fairly small & you are too, I thought perhaps we could combine forces and show everyone that New Englanders can accomplish a lot for our troops too.  You can leave me a message here, on my page, or PM me.  Hope at least some of you can make it
