Hi, my name is Michelle and I am new to Navy for Moms. My son is in his third week of boot camp. My husband (NavyDad Charlie) and I are interested in meeting people from this group and helping out with activities when we are able. My husband was in the Coast Guard Reserve for 27 years. We know how important support is to those serving our country.

Hey to all RI Moms!!  How are you managing this winter?  We certainly cannot complain about snow this year.  I wanted to say hello and see what is happening!  Kinda quiet.  Want to get started planning for Navy Week in Boston over the 4th of July?  Just looking for Moms who want to help in some way - big or small.  We'll do only what we can manage so give it a thought and let me know either by leaving a comment or sending me a PM.  (Hoping for lots of response...!)

Just thought I'd stop by and say Hello to everyone!!

Has anyone heard if the USO room is open at TF Green yet?  Are they still looking for volunteers?  Just wondering as there hasn't been an comments on it in a while.

Hope all are well and so are your sailor sons/daughters.  Have a good day!

Just found out we are packing for the Task Group Trident, a group of Navy sailors in A'stan. There are 325 sailors - that's a lot of sailors!!  PLEASE, can any of you help MA Navy Moms with this mission??  Remember we are going inexpensive - hot chocolate, candy canes & treats.

I can promise you lots of talk, laughter and fun!!  Even a cup of coffee or tea...

MA Navy Moms is having a packing party & you are invited if you are interested.

Sat., Nov. 12th at 1 PM

St. Mary of the Assumption Parish Center

17 Winter Street

Milford, MA

We've decided to do our own thing, since the majority of our moms are having financial difficulties.  We are doing hot chocolate packets, little candy canes & whatever pre-packaged sweet treats people want to bring.  No one needs to bring some of everything.  We will also concentrate on notes and holiday cards (& those need to be done ahead of time so we can just pack).  If you have any questions feel free to call me at 774-219-6552.

Hope some of you will feel free to come and join us.  The more the merrier.  I can promise Christmas music & we usually have snacks to munch on while we pack, laugh, talk & just enjoy each other.

I got the info on what the plans are for Christmas on the USS Ingrahamm.  It is a little different this year, smaller plans, but then it is a smaller group. 219 sailors and 10 officers.  But this is what MAS is hoping to do:

1 sm box for each sailor to contain gift item, candy... DVD, puzzle books, small gift & chapstick (the 1 thing they asked for!)

1 stocking per sailor - the small ones, this is just a token really with a candy cane

unused Holiday cards that they can send to their own families

Holiday decorations

Plus of course, mail and pictures from children!!

Then we can combine the small boxes into a larger one.  The stockings, candy canes, decorations, mail will go into a separate box labeled for "ALL".

If we do get unused Holiday cards, they will go into their own box as well so that the POC knows to open and distribute them well before the holidays?

I mentionned to MA Moms that perhaps we could do something different from the others (with YOUR help). In my family we always end the holiday meal with a cup of hot chocolate and a candy cane hung over the side so the long part melts into the chocolate and gives it a peppermint taste (it also looks festive).

My question is do you think between the 2 states we could get enough packets of hot chocolate and the little candy canes to do this??

It is October and that means it is Christmas time for Molly's Adopt A Sailor.  Anyone interested in having a packing party in RI??  I'm willing to help and I have a couple of other MA Moms who have done PP's who would also be glad to step up.  This is a smaller group (just over 200 sailors).  The goals is to send a box so each sailor has something to open, a Christmas card, a candy cane, any special holiday treats you want to include.  We are also hoping to send decorations and even boxes of unsigned Christmas cards so that the sailors have cards to send to their loved ones!  AND of course, mail, lots and lots of mail - notes/cards/letters and of course pictures from children.  They just love those.

Let me know if you are interested.
