Hi Patty! Thank you for your interest in the sewing party. Maybe we should plan to go somewhere close by for a quick light supper together?? I'm really excited that this is finally coming together. It will be so great to be making pillowcases together as Navy Moms and also hopefully with members of the community who also support our troops.
Thanks for the info Lois about the USO. I've been thinking about that and wondering what is going on? USO must be related somehow to the military -- hurry up and wait... LOL!! I'd like to plan a day for helping there, too.
Cheryl, heard anything lately??
Lois, I'm still learning things about FB!!! But Diane & Dana from Molly's Adopt... knows how to do all sorts of things, so I'll either email or give them a call and get some pointers...
One of these days I'll become more literate on social networking sites :)
Hi Lois and all RI Navy Moms!
I just wanted to let you know about an event that will be happening in August. I know it is a little early to announce, but I am hoping that with enough notice some people might be able to plan to attend.
Sunday, Aug. 21, from 12:30-4:30PM there will be a community sewing pillowcases event to benefit "Molly's Adopt A Sailor". It is being held at: Quilter's Stash, 560 Kelley Blvd. (Rte. 152), N. Attleboro, MA 02760
The manager has agreed to open her shop for people who would like to make and/or learn how to make pillowcases for the military. Even if you cannot sew you can help by coming and pressing seams and the completed pillowcases (PCs), clipping threads, etc.. She will give a 20% discount on the fabrics she sells, but she is also allowing Navy moms to bring their own fabric if they have it. I have also been authorized to purchase a limited amoung of material for any NAVY Mom who wants to come, but has no fabric at home & would need some and it isn't in your budget.
This event is open to the public so feel free to come and bring a friend!! I think it will be a LOT of fun - something different to do on a Sunday afternoon. Perhaps we can plan to get a light supper someplace close by. If there is an interest in that please let me know so I can be looking around for a place to go.
PS Obviously I cannot purchase fabric for non-Navy Moms, so if your friend coming with you isn't one, and she wants to sew she will need to either bring fabric with her or plan to purchase it there. She would still get the 20% discount. I hope you understand the reasoning here.
Please let me hear from you about this Event,
Donna
