For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Commissioning Invitations
I realize this is the wrong time of year to be asking this as most Mids are Commissioned in the Spring, however, my son will be Commissioned in December. We live fairly close by and want to send out invitations to friends and family. I'm wondering what the wording on the invitations should say. Any ideas?

Hi CHitch! I googled "Navy Commissioning Invitation" after I posted this and ended up with the website lilduckduck.com. I guess I have an idea now for what we could send out, but still don't know if the unit does invitations too or how we go about getting those invitations out to people. DS is busy with so many other things that I'm trying not to press him on this, but I feel like I'm missing some important details!
DS does not want a sword either. After talking with him last night, I think we will buy (or help him buy) his dress blue officer uniform. I have no idea how much money that is, but I've heard they can be quite expensive. As a small personal gift, I think we will give him a St. Michael Navy medal.
If I get more details on this end, I'll post again!

This site has a good photo assortment of navy uniforms. http://www.abbottuniforms.com/shop/ I have no idea of the company. To view uniforms from the Navy Exchange, you need to log in where they will check to see if you are authorized so you may have get someone to help with the purchase. A sword is very seldom needed, normally just weddings and change of commands.
Now that your DS is graduating, the D goes away. Encourage him to look into money management, investing, etc. Also, starting or adding to a professional library. It won't be long before he will be in-charge of several looking for advice and leadership.

My son is also commissioning in December. He is 8 hours away but we have about 10-15 family and friends going also. I haven't given much thought to invitations. He will be getting married two weeks after commissioning and that is taken up most of my planning.We will be getting him a sword/saber for the wedding and commissioning. I am not sure what to engrave on it though. I know his name but do I add ENS? Or just the commissioning date?
