Congrats Shelia!!

It's interesting to me how things are done differently at the different Units.  At my kids' Unit, Commissioning is the same weekend as University graduation.  Don't know if it will be next year when dd graduates, but it's been that way for 3 years now.

And, after the Navy Commissioning they have a Tri-ROTC Commissioning ceremony for all 3 branches on campus.  Do any other schools do that? Or do all schools do that?

Thanks HelenP!  I know what I'll be working on over the weekend. :)

That's consistent with what my son told me--above the right back pocket.

Hey.. I hate to keep bugging you all, but sometimes it seems this is the only place to get the answers.  In terms of the name tags on the trousers, I assume these go on the right back pocket (so the pocket that they could reach with their right hand).

I did find out that for the Marine Option, the tags should be 1/8" above the pocket.

Thanks everybody.  The reimbursement policies make sense to me. Also thanks for the information on the name tags.  At least I'll have a week and a half to get them done.

My son says:
"I only get paid for reporting to a duty station for the first time which was in August. I will get paid again when I leave after I graduate."
Comment by Megan on May 9, 2011 at 10:42am

Actually, I just heard back that they do not reimburse for them going home.  We missed the forms last fall. I'll need to get on my son to pay better attention next fall. :)

Thanks for the heads up. We'll keep an eye out for the forms.

When we drove my son to school last fall, the Unit Administrative Assistant at his school was the one to give him the forms to fill out, and then she filed them with the Navy and they reimbursed him direct deposit. So I would assume it's the same coming back. I believe it's the federal per mile reimbursement of $0.51 per mile, so distance between school and home will control.

Congrats to you all! It sounds like it's going to be an exciting summer for everybody!

I do have a question.  We drove my son back from school to home. He told us that we get reimbursed, but we don't know how that works.  We've saved all the receipts. Does anybody have information? link to a form, etc? or does it depend on the school?

Thanks!
