I've cooked and baked more today than the past month, my laundry room is FULL of clothes, my son's room is a disaster and he's only been home for a half day...bedroom full of old hs buddies and college buddies who are back for the summer...he is home, tomorrow is Mother's Day and I am so happy....at least until the 26th when he leaves for CORTRA.  Happy Mother's Day, Navy moms!!! God bless you all

Yes, my son's unit had name tags done too. But somehow my son faded his NWU trousers in the laundry, so needs a new pair. And he wants the optional coveralls for Cortramid. He also burned a hole in his khaki trousers while ironing lol, but thinks he can get by with one pair for now as they are $70 to replace.

same with the 'nwu shirt and trouser' nametape goes directly on top back pocket on trousers...this goes without saying but....make sure thread is a navy color...you would be surprised at the home sewers who don't use matching thread, they will notice and will say something, no doubt.

Sounds great, helenp.  For those interested, i just used a regular sewing machine.  Material wasn't as tough or thick as making "corn bags" lol

Thank you suvwi and Jn/Jf Mom. I found a friend with an industrial sewing machine whose husband used to be in the AF Guard. She agreed to sew our labels. I was just panicked for a while. I know everything has to be just so with uniforms.

This is how my dd had me do hers coveralls last year.  Don't know about shirts or trousers, all she had were coveralls.  We live in rural usa & there are no tailors.

The tags just go directly over the pockets w/ the ends folded under to be the exact same width as the pocket itself.  i put tape on either side of both pockets just for picture to illustrate they are the same width.

Before i folded the ends over i fray-checked & zigzag stitched each end to try to eliminate any fraying as they age.  I just top-stitched all the way around each tag real well to secure.

Hope that helps!!  She didn't have any problems that she indicated.

helenp~ Even when you find the pictures for the name tags (Brit already knew his so I can't help with that) call and speak with the tailor and make sure they know how to handle military uniforms. You do not want some one who doesn't know what they are doing messing up his uniforms. There is an Air Force base near us so we called places close to there. Added bonus is they often give discounts!

Is there someplace that I can find a photo and/or instructions on the proper placement of name tags on uniforms? My son will be home from school for only three days before he leaves for CORTRAMID West. He is ordering some uniform pieces (somehow he faded his Navy Work Uniform trousers in the wash). He is having them shipped home and said I need to take the trousers and coveralls (don't worry ladies, he said these are optional, but he wants them) to a tailor and have the name tags sewn on. I have no idea how to tell the tailor to do it properly. I know there must be instructions in the uniform regulations somewhere.
