I'm pretty sure my mid is dropping after this semester, so I probably won't be on here much longer. Just wanted to wish all you Moms the best and the best to all your kids!  It was a rough first semester, a pretty good second semester, but after careful thought that is his decision.  I think it's a mistake, but he told me he is sure.  So good luck to you all!!  Thanks for the support.

that is what they had told my son and the rest of the mids, too. I know that nothing is def with the government until it happens. I worry so much that education is the first place they look at to cut and the Naval/Marine force is going to get smaller. I hope it does not affect them too much. Thanks for the news, mrsmajors.

tarantulas? I'm a soCal girl...never really saw them...but, then again, I never hung out at naval bases....my son, well, WE are still waiting for an answer....lucky ones that know that they are going.....my son's school only passes out bad info not positive info, lol!! hopefully he hears soon...and by he, I mean for me :) we are planning our summer trip around him......maybe we will have to do what one of the moms suggested to me, a staycation...somehow, that does NOT sound as fun....I am anxiously awaiting on if the budget will approve tonight....I'm now a DoD civilian and this budget WILL affect our kids in the NROTC....we just don't know to what effect.  here's to luck to all of our hard working Navy kids.

Wow...kind of scary for those kids that use this money for there food! Some parents are on limited means and this helps out. I hope my daughter will be able to complete her senior year next year, because this affects us. I don't know that I would have encouraged her to go this route for school, and so far from home, had I of known the changes that would take place in the program. She has tried getting jobs on campus and they won't hire her because she is in the program and the school considers that financial help. We are all so proud of her and her hard work and that she will be an officer soon, but even that has changed, might have to get a job before the Navy can use her all depends on her GPA when and where she will station.  Kind of glad my son did not go this route.

hey ROTC moms, have ANY of you heard about the STIPEND going away for next year???? apparently, my son said they got briefed today about certain entitlements going away...and we can all guess why.....hell, we don't even have the budget approved...I'm a retiree and work for Dept of Defense, and I may not even get a paycheck after this Friday....scary times....also, they mentioned financial aid being cut even more....I don't have any specifics, only an irate mid telling me his stipend will stop...not sure I believe that, but.....you never know nowadays...it's funny, the stipend isn't much, but it's HIS and he likes that. I hope this isn't true.....have any of you heard anything????

It's official ... DS is on his way East in July.  He said MU had issues w/ numbers, also, but a couple scholarship midn dropped recently, so they no longer need volunteers to skip CORTRAMID.

Hope Hank & all the midn that want to get to go on CORTRAMID.  Praying for the best!!

Susan, how cool.  What a great opportunity for him.
