Hey, so question about the drop out rate for you more experienced Moms.

I would think there might be a bunch that drop in the first few weeks, and then the unit stabilizes. At that point some might not come back in the fall, or might come back to school, but decide the Navy is not for them. Is this right? I'm optimistically thinking that we are at least through the first hard part.

My son's O week started with 30 and they are now at 23. My son is having a hard time and wants to drop, but I told him he's not giving it enough time. He seems overwhelmed and I get text messages from him that he made a mistake. He has to at least get thru this semester as I can't afford to keep him at the school he is at. It's very disappointing since he is the one who really wanted this and now he wants to quit so easily. Hoping he will give it more time.

Shelia,
At my university graduations happened on Fri (night) and Sat (AM and early afternoon) then the Sat they had the NROTC commissioning ceremonies. But at a different state school in IL the ROTC (units) had a graduation for just the members and the commissioning all in one ceremony. So hopefully yours will be close too!

Sorry I've been dozing, what is the average drop-out rate? Different for men and women? Daughter's class lost lots, including well over half of the women dropped. Some very big surprises. Hard to see them leave.

Well, I can see by the comments, apparently, each school follows different rules for the Navy Ball! At my daughter's school the females have always worn long gowns, I don't know, but the females mid's have always worn gowns, though now that you mentioned it, a friend of hers attends a different school and the females wear there uniforms! Sorry, guess each school is different.
