Wow, I'm pretty sure B's "O" week was nothing like that. But he didn't have to participate in all of it because he had just been through NIS and was enlisted. I think he went everyday in his civilian clothing. Except for the 5 am runs when he wore his navy run gear.

There were around 40 candidates at the beginning of the week. I think there are just under 100 in the battalion.

My son is doing his last day of O week today. He 'graduates' tomorrow morning after a long and stressful week! As of yesterday, 9 candidates had dropped out this week. My son is only more determined that this is right for him. It makes me so proud of him. Good luck to all the mids as they begin another school year!

Thanks for the advice. Rose, B is a in STA-21 so he's been through boot camp and to a program this summer at NSI. I would hope after 4 plus years he would know how to iron his uniform.
I was just unsure because the Army ROTC photos at the school all the girls wore short dresses and that made me nervous cause I didn't want stick out like a sore thumb; I thought possible that ROTC units events might be less formal .

So B just told me that we have the navy ball (I'm not sure what the official name is) on Oct1st. We just moved here to Tucson so that only gives me 6 weeks to find a hair dresser! How formal is a NROTC units ball? I brought one evening gown with me here, but I'm not sure I want to wear it. I have been to several USMC birthday balls, and one Army Dining out event, and both events required long evening gowns.

Just heard from my MIDN 2/C, on his way back from a twelve-day sub cruise. Enjoyed learning whatever he could about life onboard a sub. :-) The week after next, O-Week starts and he'll be one of the instructors. Seems like those two years went by in a hurry!

I am getting ready to take my son to Miami University this weekend. O Week starts Sunday. He is very excited and ready to get the whole NROTC experience going. I am nervous because this is all so new for us. It is that 'fear of the unknown'. Will he be okay --- will he make it through O week without injury --- etc.
Thanks for all the wonderful input. It is nice to read about all the other students and the fact that they all survived!

B checked into his ROTC! I was told we might be hosting a little STA-21 BBQ this weekend so I'm excited to have guests in our new home in Tucson! I'm wondering what the next month will bring us.
