NMXXXY - He had to buy new ones that were a little larger so we have extras that he can't wear anymore.

Hi, All,
Speaking of buying things you need, I have two pairs of coveralls, size 40, one, regular and one, long. If anyone is interested, I will send them to you (free). I see no reason to leave them around here. My son got them while in NROTC and can't wear them now.

Thankfully Brit got his orders a few weeks ago ( I think the 23rd) and as far as I know everything is good. I know the few guys he is close to have gotten their orders too.

Got this in an e-mail and liked it........

a quote from Italian author and politician Ignazio Silone, which offers an inspiring—and inspired—definition of personal freedom:

"Liberty is the possibility of doubting, the possibility of making a
mistake, the possibility of searching and experimenting, the
possibility of saying 'No' to any authority—literary, artistic,
philosophic, religious, social, and even political."

How fortunate we are to live in a country that allows us these freedoms each and every day.

Have a safe and happy 4th of July!

Echoing the sentiments of NurseNavyMom, Happy 4th of July to everyone. I sat in my peaceful backyard this evening, enjoying the sounds of birds calling to each other and the beauty of the flowers around me...and wishing that our young men and women serving in the military around the world could enjoy the same feeling of tranquility. God bless and protect them, and bring them safely home to their families.

I hope that every midshipman has a fabulous CORTRAMID experience. My son came home at the end of June with hundreds of pictures, many stories, and some great videos! It is the experience of a lifetime, and I still get goosebumps thinking about some of the stories he related.

I'm looking forward to hearing your stories about your mid's adventures!

Thank you, Beth. Is your son in engineering? Ours is planning aerospace. We have been told that it's common to take a 5th year. We hope the Navy is ok with that and presume they pay for the 5th year, is that correct? Our son also wondered if it comes to that whehter he could get a second major in possibly ocean eng. as the majors are similar -- only 2 or 3 classes additional would be needed. I hope his advisor guides him well.

Very happy to have found this group! Nice to have others who can understand. My son is leaving for CORTRAMID next week and won't be coming back before school starts. Guess that is something we have to get used to...

Our son is really getting excited about ROTC/Corps of Cadets at Virginia Tech. Orientation is mid July, new cadet week mid August. We've been teasing him that pretty soon he's going to have a new mommy -- haha. We know Mother Navy will take good care of him.
