Centhea, my boyfriend is a rescue swimmer currently and he told me the other day they call it "aquaflage" because you can't see them in the water.... i don't know if he was joking.

Why does it take so long to get the Summer Cruise information? Anyone have any idea when they will release that information-dates/place-- to our kids? She goes to school out east....

Hi Navymoms-
Congrats to all the new SWO's :D out there and their families!! How exciting. On one hand it seems so far away for some of us but then again I think back to when Kara first started RPI and that seemed like yesterday and now I already hear her talking about her Junior Year schedule which she just registered for. Suddenly I stop breathing and think "Wait- that can't be be right!!" LOL.

The CORTRAMID cutbacks are just awful IMO. My daughter was not able to go last year like many of yours are not able to this year. (She was a midyear scholarship recepient). So- she was "supposed" to be able to go this year. Hate to share with you but that program has been nixed as well. As a 3rd class you now have to go with the 3rd class cruises so it I don't believe the "you can do it next year" option is there any more. :( In any case she is just happy she is going this year. Last year was tough.
One of the Marines in her unit was just notified that he is not going on mountain warfare training this summer as there are not enough slots for that either. Something seems wrong with this picture doesn't it??

On a personal note- and I couldn't make this up if I tried the one remaining parent between my husband and I that hasn't had surgery over the past 3 months just went in for surgery yesterday. My husbands mom- knee replacement. Hopefully this will be an easy one. Lord this family has had ENOUGH of the medical community to last several lifetimes !!! Talk to everyone soon. Hope everyone has a great day- Paulette

Centhea! Now you can breathe a bit ---- Congratulations!!! I am so happy for you and your son. Sorry about the theft, but sounds like he can move forward from here. Plus, it gave you the chance to have that lunch and hug with him to encourage him for the PRT. That could have been the difference this morning! I I would say that is the silver lining in this topsy-turvy week!

thank you for the info, Beth...when I heard the sad story on the news yesterday, I was wondering if the young man was an ROTC grad. We will definitely keep him and the VT families in our prayers....

To all PT Moms....I am praying for all of your kids. I got the call at 7AM this morning: PASSED!!!! Life is sweet when it goes their way, and oh so bitter when it doesn't. My daughter has experienced both, so I know what all of you are going through...just a little advice--she told me this morning what really helped her get through it today was that the faster and older mids who have already taken their test ran side by side with her today to encourage and keep her motivated. I thought that was so great, and such the NAVY way--always looking out for eachoher. So, tell your kids to ask their pals to run with them--it makes such a difference! We are soooo happy over here, and I will continue my prayers for all the speedy angels to run with your kids during their tests...good luck!
