Thanks! I don't know about his orders yet. He says it will take around 3 weeks for him to get them. Are there quarters for single officers on base? Is that what BOQ means? Learning a lot here. :)

JB, Thanks for the book suggestions. I will get them. I will see you on "Destroyer Moms".
NMXXXY - thanks for the offer of help. I know we are going to need suggestions when it comes time to move. I will wait and see what his orders are, but for now, do they have furnished apts. near base or do you have to take your own stuff?
NavyMomBarb - I thought h.s. went fast but college is like warp-speed! You will be here sooner than you think. Hang in there!

Hi, All, Well, looks like my son's going to that expensive place you are talking about NMXXXY. I don't know how much I can say.......can I say which ship? He is on a destroyer which is what he wanted. Says it is relatively new. He sounds excited and feels good about it. Says the spots for Japan went really quickly but he does not sound disappointed. Whew! Now waiting for orders. Thanks for worrying with me. :)

Thanks for all the encouragement everyone! I will let you know what happens. One hour and 45 mins. left!!! He says if they are ahead of schedule, he can go ahead and sign up early. Nervewracking !!! He's probably calmer than I am. :)

Yes, he's looking for a destroyer. He would like to get Japan or somewhere on the west coast.......so far away! We're on the east coast!

Hi, All, Just thought I would let you all know that my son chooses the ship/location he wants tomorrow for when he commissions. I can't believe how nervous I am about this. He seems ok for now.....just talked with him. He's doing "research" on the ships, etc. I just hope he gets a ship that will be a good experience for him. Please keep your fingers crossed and your prayers going. Thanks.
