nancynavymom: I live south of Miami, actually a suburb (used to be a Miami address, but our area incorporated into its own city). People here are complaining of the cold weather (many of them)...but not me! I LOVE it. I'm out walking in it each day...3 different times! Even when we were in the mid-30's in Jan...I was out. And I have no heat in my house...I just cover up! I think it is wonderful for this time of year. Our HOT is just WAY TOO HOT....and for way too long. I would love this kind of winter every year...without the mid-30's though because that hurt our plants and especially hurt our farmers. No need for that!

And on the graduation, my son told me that they went to one up there. There was just a small number of people there, and he saw no parents for this one. But I do think some parents go???? Is your son a YN by chance? Just wondering if they started school too.

Hello ladies! Just wondering, my son has not received ANY of his letters yet, any ideas? and Yes his classes started today as well, said they had to wait until they had enough to start and his graduation would be on April the 13th! Do they have a formal graduation? and diannep, how far south are you down there?

Thanks, Sharon. I hope my son is able to get his "box" by tomorrow (should be there today) and then have his cell phone. This waiting on phone calls with phone cards is getting harder! I'll be happy when he calls me on his cell because that will mean he got his box...and hopefully can complete his bank business with the rest in the box. Then I can breathe again! You have a wonderful day too! We are loving our cooler weather here in S. Florida....the HOT will be back soon and stays for such a LONG TIME!

Sharon, no one has started school there yet? I know my son said that their preliminary "watch" hours had to be completed, signed off on, and submitted to the commanders before they could start school. So I'm wondering if there are different start dates depending on when they each complete these? My son will need to find time to pick up his cell phone from the Post Office. He also needs to get to the Credit Union for some bank business. When will they have time to do this???? Sounds like they will be lucky to have time to eat! And, I vote YES for you to go to Meridian to fix this mail problem! HA! Sounds like they could use a "mother's touch" there! :-)

Absolutely, Karen. The NAVY is the BOSS! Maybe the good grades in their class would open up a few places for them where the Navy could equally use them, and then they get to pick. Who knows....my son THINKS he knows where he would like to be, but bottom line...he has no clue!

Karen, I had heard that depending on how well they do in their school, they may have a say so in where they are stationed. Maybe they are told in a week of the many possibilities? I don't know. My son had just told me that those who finish at the top of the class have some choice in the matter. I guess time will tell!

Thanks so much, Grace. I guess they will start school on Tuesday then. Thanks for catching me up on their week!

Still waiting to hear from my son again...UGH! No word since Monday night. He doesn't have his cell yet. So, if anything has happened since Monday that I need to know about (info on what's going on), can someone please tell me? HA! My son told me he starts yeoman school tomorrow. Hopefully he'll call later today.

Also, it's neat to hear about the cats on base. My son is an animal lover (father was a vet!) and I know misses his 2 dogs like crazy. Both are rescues, one he brought home from an animal clinic he worked at in his teens. I hope all of our sailors are getting some fun and relaxation now after the stress of boot camp-
