Does anyone know how the new Sailors are paired up in Mississippi?  Do they room with one or more and with someone going over with them or with someone who is already in Mississippi?

Yes, they can have cell phones and laptops during A-School.  And, after they get their 'green dot' they can leave base on their days off.  After boot camp, A-School seems like a walk in the park!

Hello to everyone, my SR doesn't get to Meridian until beginning of Oct but I decided to go ahead and join your group.  I hope to learn from everyone what to expect.  He leave for BC 7/31; he will be an AZ.

Ke'neisha:  Each base has its own rules, but he will have to "phase up" before staying off the base overnight.  That takes a good while.  He will know about this once he goes through "Indoc" after arriving on the base.  Since he will be able to stay in touch with you with phone/laptop once at A School, he can keep you posted!  I do believe that you can visit him ON THE BASE relatively quickly, but off base takes longer.
