Fredsmom, sorry for the late reply. Still getting used to using this site and plus trying to use from my phone not to fun. But he is E1 - I think, I'm still getting used to the Navy Verbiage.

his PIR is 6/28. I am hoping to go to airport to give him a few of his personal things that he asked for. Laptop, phone, etc. all the important things in life.

The reason I asked is because you are allowed to meet them at the airport and O' Hare has beautiful USO's in their terminals! It is a great place to hang out with your sailor! It's like a resort free for military and their families

NavyMom21 - there is no cost! The Navy takes great care of their sailors! Will you be at the airport with your son? And when is his PIR?

fredsmom...thanks for responding. Do they need to get their own transportation to the base? Or are they picked up like when they went to GL? Do you remember the cost involved? I know my SR wont have much cash on them so I would want to make sure they have enough to cover the cost.

If your sailor is going to Meridian for his/her A school, they will fly out with the other sailors going to Meridian.

I have a question for the veteran moms. How do they get from the airport to base? Also, what airport do they fly into?

Hi, my daughter is in Meridian for A school now.  She will be coming home on the 28th.  I can't wait to see her.  She loves it there and is having a great time.
