Thanks Ang. I will tell him about the airplane mode, who would have thunk? What will he be able to bring with him. He is home for a 15 day leave starts in Dec. He is heading to Yoko, end of Dec to meet the ship(I think). Will he live on the ship right away or a base. Do I sound dumb? Just trying to prepare. Oh one more thing, can he bring a lap top??? Thanks everyone!

My son will be joining your loved ones aboard the Curtis Wilbur in Dec as a DC apprentice. What do I need to do to prepare? Besides Valium for me? Is there anything I need to know, do? Help, Thanks!

Ang... here's the message I just got from my sailor...

"We recently received mail when we refueled at sea I think. Idk for sure
though. That might not be necessary though because we were told this
morning that Operation Tomodachi ends tonight. After that we are on
standby for 24-48 hours to find out if we have to stay here to support
the ground support that will last until the 11th or if we have to
support another mission or just go back to port, we don't know yet."

This is disappointing because I just cancelled my trip to see him leaving on the 13th. I will be so disappointed if he is in port then.

Yep! I will go shopping tomorrow. I'm sending him a package and will tell him to also pass on anything he doesn't need/want. Thanks for the tip.

Sure, I'll email him now. Although he keeps telling me not to send him anything because he doesn't have room:( I sooo want to send a care package!

Heard from my sailor today & yesterday. He's fine. Just bragged about how much money he's saving by being out at sea.

Haven't heard from mine, but he commented on a mutual friend's Facebook page about 12 hours ago, so I know he's still out there.  Everyone being quiet, must be keeping them busy!

Ang, I just know they left again Tuesday (Japan time). Very brief contact with my sailor.

No refund, but they did issue me a voucher to use within the next year. There is usually a fee for that, but they waived all fees.  American Airlines was very understanding.
