My son is going for his E4 test on thurs, just wanted to wish him the best of luck. He's moving up in the world pretty fast. I'm grateful that he really likes what he is doing right now.

Hello everyone, I'm new to the group! My son is an EM and stationed in SD on the USS Rentz. He's been out there for about a month now. Working long hours and not much time to himself, but he still loves it!

He is seamen undesignated for now. So I guess he will be doing a different range of things on the ship. I just found out yesterday that he ships out October third! I am very excited to meet and make new friends. =) PS, thank you for the FYI. I will definitely change it.

I wish I could help but my son lives in the barracks. I know he has said that it's just like a city in itself. They have everything there. Congrats to you and your husband and please tell him Thank You for his service. Just a little FYI, you should really not put your last name on your profile. Navyformoms has asked us to just use first names only or initials. It protects everyone involved. I hope you like San Diego. I have visited there and loved it. What is your husbands rate?

I'm heading to San Diego with my husband and our (almost two year old) daughter. Can anyone tell me what it is like to live on base??

My husband is in Great Lakes, IL for school. We are expected to be in San Diego, CA in the middle of August. I'm very excited to see what its like to be part of the military family! We will be living in military housing. If anyone has any advice for us, I would love to hear them. =)

You are a good woman!!! I have moved a total of 5 times in my life and I am 50 years old. I guess if that is what you know then it isn't so bad. I myself am a homebody BUT since my son is in the Navy, I do plan on traveling. lol We have a family friend who is like a son to me that is EOD and has been in the Navy for about 12 years or so and we went to see him a few years ago. That is when my youngest got the idea for the Navy. We were able to take a little tour and he thought it was awesome.
