Thanks Tim,  I am not sure we want to stay on base.  What is the nicest area around Point loma-  still within about 20-30 min drive drive.  Is Coronado a difficult drive from point loma?

HI - Going to visit my son in a few weeks-  Can anyone recommend a beach town near San Diego that is nice and kind of quiet.  We are not from the area... at a loss for good knowledge and overwhelmed with choices.   Want a condo with a kitchen for a few days. suggestions very welcomed!!

Hey everybody! :) My name is Melanie (or just Mel)... my husband and I just moved to San Diego from Texas about a week ago! Hoping to get to know you wonderful ladies! Married for 3 years, 23 years old, no children (but hope to start a family soon)... Unless you count the "furry children" lol. Just north of downtown San Diego in the Fashion Valley area :)

HI all:

I am new to this group. My son has one more month at P'cola before he is done with Ship board ops and goes to duty station in SD- arrives October 18th- He is CTT.  on the USS Lake Champlain. Can anyone tell me what the barracks are like there and where he most likely will be going?

My husband said he was told that of you don't give the Navy a copy of your marriage certificate within 30 days of being married than I can't be on his deers or recieve benefits. Is this true? In San Diego county they require you to wait 3 weeksto get a marriage certificate so we weren't able to get it yet.

I would totally give him his car....its hard to get anywhere around here without a car!!  I drive so much here, thank God my husband and I both have a car because we wouldn't be able to go anywhere without one!  I know there are some Sailors that live on base without one, but I think it would be so hard.  About the drinking part....1) If he's in the Navy he's an adult, he can make his own decisions, and if he was responsible at home he probably still is, and 2) The Navy is always giving them speeches on not getting in trouble, drinking and driving, etc, etc....I say its his car, let him have it!
