SWCCWife7- look at Lincoln Housing.. its military housing off base, but still close enough. Or you can look on craigslist for places.. just stay out of san ysidro, imperial beach, city heights and there are some spots in national city that arent great.. but other than that San Diego is great and tons of fun!

haha that's totally what I thought for the longest time, too. Then I finally signed up and made an account for my business since it's actually a great way to self-promote and I got pretty hooked, so I made a personal account too. I sort of feel ashamed for caving...haha...

I love where I live! It's perfect for my schedule. When I leave at 0530-0600 it's smooth sailing. I live 20mi away and it only takes me 15-20min to get here. Lol. Same when I go back home at 1900. I travel on the 15 and love it! People here think I'm crazy living that far from base, but seriously... not that bad. Diff story all together with that bridge though. I hate that thing.

Christine: Not ignoring you, I'm enlisted, so I don't really look at the job market here. lol :] Good luck though.
Are you married. Sometimes the FFRG out here can help you find a job. I know the one on my base [the hospital] helps the spouses with that.

Yeah it really is a toss up. I too have a love/hate relationship with SD (more hate than love to be honest...lol). But really, no matter where you get housing, you'll have to deal with traffic of some sort or take some other factor into consideration. It's just too crowded here! Haha.

Christine: the job market here is as bad as it is most other places. You can check the San Diego Craigslist job listings for an idea of what type of jobs are out there. What line of work are you in?

It also depends on what direction you're going too, and on what highways. Lol, like the I-5 isn't bad going North in the evenings yet terrible going South, but it's the opposite in the mornings. Ooooh, the love/hate relationship I have with SD. The confusing roads and highways never fail to tick me off. My husband refuses to ever go downtown. He gets stressed out just RIDING down there, let alone when he drives. Goodness... lol
