Whether it is your son, daughter, wife, husband, boyfriend, cousin, brother, sister, mother, father, etc. that is away on a deployment, they all enjoy getting mail. It's a way that they can stay connected to family and friends. The most frequent response we get from the Sailors is that receiving mail from the home front is a huge morale boost!

SASSY is more than 80 moms strong with another 50 SASSY people (classrooms, teachers, civic groups, family, friends and just true blue Americans) who have come together to be a part of Sponsor A Sailor at Sea, Y'all (SASSY). We've made some excellent contacts on the Big E as well as the other ships in her carrier strike group, from the Ship's company to the airwing. And now the USS GHW Bush!  Through the Chief's Mess, we receive names of junior sailors who are in need of support - from cards and letters to the occasional care package - and reminded that their service to the country and their personal sacrifices are appreciated, and that someone back home is thinking about that sailor.

Many sailors don't receive much, if any, encouragement from home. Sometimes its because the sailor is truly alone, or is estranged from his family, who may not be supportive of his/her decision to join the military, or perhaps because of the family's financial situation, it isn't possible to send the care packages that make life a little better.

Terry ----  you know sweetie....  I have several of my boys original PIR that did not wind up making what they originally hoped for... and then went undies too but they are all happy and sorting it all out....  they are striking for other rates and I just think that any job especially in the Navy is a GREAT job... I just know that your boy A....  well, God just wants him somewhere else thats all!  And Im sure that he learned so many things and met so many people that he was suppose too....  The Nuke program is hard and especially if you are married - I have a friend here on N4M that "knows" these things and he said that the Nuke program is the toughest on the Sailors.... first on and last off!!  and since he is married... perhaps there is a rainbow and blessing in disguise!!!  We will see..   Ill be praying for him for the Right Place, Right Time!!!

Kathy if yours is not posting on FB they may be in "River City". Anytime that happens it takes longer for letters & packages to arrive as we all know or are learning LOL!!

Rhonda....  The first set of boxes I sent to my 3 kids... I forgot to give them my email but only just my physical address..  well, then I sent out round two of care packages and I rememebered to ask for an email  from them.. sooo this am I got one!!!!  He said in his email that he had mailed me a letter also after the first boxes got there but I never got it... sooooo  perhaps your Sailor sent you a letter but like mine... it is lost in the system... try email... And we have been shipping Care Packages for 7 years and its seems that those beloved boxes take up to 2 month to receive depending upon where the boat is... This last bunch I sent only took 5 weeks... so keep on Rhonda!  You will hear something soon Im sure!
