yeah, I know they don't have many spots available anywhere. The nearest Coastguard recruiter for us is in Charlotte almost 3 hours away. My son took the ASVAB today at high school. All juniors take it in our school system. Can't wait to hear how he did. His sister scored the highest in the school when she took it lol. Higher than all the boys and we had NO idea that she would ever be in the military. At that time she didn't know either :-)

Hi Lala,
Too much trouble. I'll unload them eventually. I may see if there's a coast guard Facebook site.
I'd encourage your son to stay in contact with both recruiters. Our coast guard recruiter didn't pay much attention to our son until I called and told him the ASVAB and Fitness Challenge scores were available. He called back the next day wanting to arrange a meeting. By then, son lost faith in them. In Indiana, less than 25 coast guarders were recruited last year because there simply were not spots. A couple weeks after son signed his contract at MEPs a local boy who was lined up for coast guard got arrested for theft and low and behold, one more spot in Indiana.

My 17yr old also wanted to go into the Coastguard but he has heard that it is very hard to get in so now he too is talking about joining the Navy. You might be able to sell it all on eBay if you can't find someone with ties to this site.

Anyone know anyone with a child, spouse, loved one in the coast guard? My son was originally going that route and when my local sbk store closed i bought some coast guard supplies. Then he switched to Navy - I say Bravo Zulu to that - but nobody in my entire town has a coast guarder. I'd be willing to ship them off. They are specific to the coast guard. Nothing that would work Navy.

I made and finished one of the scrapbook in a box projects. It was pretty easy and only took a couple of afternoons from start to finish. I will post some pics of it in a couple of days. :-)
